What are your feeling regarding Rep. Robert Hurt's "NO" vote on the VIOLENCE AGAINST WOMEN ACT on Thursday? Does that make Hurt an enabler for batterers, abusers, and rapists? I am waiting for the tidal wave of public outcry against him, where is it?
Read the bill and see what it actually contained, or is your attention span so short that you can't get past the title? There was so much crap added to it that it wasn't worth the paper it was printed on.

Well I guess we are not on the same page but you are espousing your own opinion.
That is what I want Re. Robert Hurt to do, to make me secure in the fact that he has the best interest of women at heart by voting NO. Until he does that, I have a crisis in confidence over whether he should vote on ANY issue that will affect women in his district.

Not sure why Dumler is taking so long to resign. He would be able to move his career along faster and join all the other dems in D.C. where they think "anything goes".

Do you mean by "so much crap added", including lgbt and indians?
What have you got against them?
Even Eric Cantor voted for the bill, it was only the crazee religious right that was against.

Maybe someone should post Dumler's home address and we can all take turns protesting in his front yard. Maybe then he will take the hint and leave office.

"R.I.P. Dumbler's political aspirations." How true and how deserving that statement is. At best Dumler will be an ambulance chasing attorney lucky to make his rent.
His resume points toward a cushy job at the DNC don't you think? Perhaps,
being in charge of " Women's Issues".

Hi Lynn. Have you done any research on the bill? I never believe what news reports say - I always prefer to read the language of legislation for myself - and I do understand one problem some people had with the new, updated version of the bill. Native Americans living on their own lands do not have the same court system and protections that we do in ours. ABSOLUTELY if a non-Native person sexually assaults a Native woman on their own land, prosecution must happen! But since the alleged perpetrator is non-Native, he should have the same rights and privileges that defendants in our criminal courts have. Imagine this scenario: your brother is mistakenly accused of raping a Native woman on Native land. He is arrested and held until trial without the possibility of bail. At the trial, he is not granted an attorney, and does not have the right to refuse to testify. He is found guilty, and sentenced to prison based on whatever guidelines the Native courts choose to use. He has no right to appeal. Can you see the problem with this? A solution definitely needs to be found, but allowing Native courts to prosecute non-Native individuals goes against our Constitution, and strips alleged criminals of rights integral to our criminal justice system. So people who voted against it should not be assumed to be "against women" - maybe they were just trying to find a better solution to that problem.

If you need MEN to pass bills to protect YOU just say so!
Try taking charge of your own protection, it feels darn good.

I'm afraid you have incorrect information. He recently moved to Dumb Drive.
The interesting thing about this street is that the further down the street
you live the dumber you are likely to be in your decision making. A friend of
the "most qualified" from Scottsville said Dumler lives in the last home on street-
in the back room!

I'm a Democrat. I know Dumler. He is guilty of more than convicted. This is not an issue of political ideology. This is about violence. Every Republican on the BOS, including one I dislike much, is more qualified than Dumler. Need money? Sell your stake in the beer joint, go active service (if they don't pull your officer bars), run a better practice...hell go to waiting tables. If he stays on the board he will get the weekends only. I hope the judge decides he should do.
As a Dem, I'm disgusted at the Albemarle Party and will no longer pay dues. The vice chair bailed him out, The Scottsville District Chair rants on the internet about his eagle scout like persona and the party chair says only "we are having meetings". All 3 "strong women".

After listening to Coy's interview with Dumler, I'm convinced even more that he lives in a fantasy world. He's so out of touch with reality that it's scary. His demeanor changed several times during the interview. This guy has no conscience.

No, I think he is Bill Clinton. Didn't you hear the song "Right Wing Conspiracy" playing in the background when Dumler said that the people who want him to resign are only doing that because they want to see conservatives take control of the BOS?
