Global warming is now understood to be a "cyclical" event and as of late, we now know we how very little that we do know about global warming.

I am not arguing the veracity of the article because I wonder where they got the 27 inch rise from but Blackhat you are way off the mark. If you have ice under water and it melts it makes no change in the level of the water but if the ice is above the water, as it is on the South Pole and Greenland, etc., when it melts it is additional water that was not there to start thus causing a rise in the water level. Once the ice caps start to melt the process actually speeds up because you are exposing dark water to the sun, which it wasn't before, and the sun rays heats up the water faster causing faster melting of the ice caps around it. It is basic science no matter if you believe in man-made global warming or not.
