So my mechanic tells me I need tie rods! I ask how much? He says Chinese about 10-20 bucks and will last one year. USA/Union made-not sure but will be more but will last the life of the vehicle! Thank you Union Sis/Bros for making me feel safe! I will definitely go with USA made since I drive 40,000 miles a year w/my job & business--again, you get what you pay for!! Do you hear me Dauch???
Yes you do get what your paying for. You have some serious driving to do and with the gas prices that has to hurt.

Weren't the rods American made to begin with???
Never go Chinese go Japanese on motors. My Mercury Cougar has a Mazda V-Tech engine, fast, reliable, 140000 miles and runs like new. Also use Castrol GTX synthetic or semi-synthetic oil only. The oil doesn't burn down in high heat condition and you can run it 5000 miles between changes. My GM made Pontiac van motor choked at 98000 with the same problem. I'm all for American products but I only buy what works and is proven. I can be a loyal UAW buy American stalled on the side of the road or the guy with the American made Mercury with the Mazda engine giving you a ride. I'll take the latter....loyalty sucks when you have a $2000 engine bill.

Never had that--traded in the old Suburban with 260,000 miles--never needed an engine-one rearend I think was the most expense I had to spend!

Yes but I have sort of consolidated and make service & sales calls in one area in one day--still have to fill the tank twice a week but the Chevy Van I have is really good on gas--we keep up the service on it! It is sooo nice to have a nice person to forum with! Enjoy your evening/day!

Good Morning Strikers Wife this is the headline in the Detroit Free Press this morning.

UAW, American Axle reach deal to end strike
The UAW and American Axle have reached a tentative agreement on a new labor contract, the union and the company confirmed late Friday. Pending ratification by union members, the deal marks the end of a nearly 12-week walkout, one of the longest automotive strikes in recent history

I did read it and woke up the ol boy to tell him-he just rolled over! I am anxious to hear is included in the package so that we can make any adjustments in our lives and get on with living our dream! Best of luck to you! Great day--I am going out for breakfast with friends--girls morning out! I hear our contract (AFL-CIO) as been settled also--minor adjustments which we all agree on anyways! Best of luck to you--I hope it is not really drastic changes

Sounds like a great day going out with the girls. We do that every now and then. Have a Union meeting this morning I will have a busy schedule for the next few days. Working on Election Committee. We have one more year on our contract right now we need to get the right people in office. Best of luck to you and your husband.

Yall keep going on and on and on and on...The unions have out lived their usefulness and do not help companies to survive or thrive.
They are a hole in the bucket of the financial backers of any corporation.

Each time you (the unions) start flapping your gums about you demand this or that, and start down talking companies, you only continue to lose support and turn folks against you.

Just SHUT UP and start appreciating what you are getting away with, and stop biting the hand that feeds you!
You are a thorn in the side of corporate America and are contributing to the demise of the US manufacturing industry as a whole.

Good luck - boy there are alot of jerky guys on this forum. I am sooo glad there are a few of us women here to keep them straight!
I know the elections were held for AAM and GM is holding theirs this week I believe.
Good luck & I hope your negotations go well I am very happy that AAM workers stood by their guns and sent the message that we can have a definite effect on the economy. I am sure GM is not going to ready for a strike next year--too soon.

Well, Well, I'm back from Chicago...sounds like you all have been having fun. The girls are still patting each other on the ass for a strike well done even though the UAW lost their asses. The union is back to work for alot less than they had before, they lost a bundle during the strike, put alot of other people out of work, so let's go out to lunch and celebrate. That's like the Yankees losing the world series and showing up the next day with nobody in the stadium. I bet they would celebrate on the Titanic for an iceberg well hit.
This has got to be the dumbess posts I have ever read, not surprising it's all going down as I predicted....at least GM now has Dana as a second supplier and won't relive ever again. U R funny girls....

Yeah go on strike again make less money on strike pay, then make less when you settle.....hasn't that happened everytime....check the history
People who don't remember the past are doomed to repeat it....just happened again
You have had an effect on the economy...you sooo American. During the strike Toyota and Nissan jumped right in and took more of the market...smart...soooo....smar t

The UAW has been trying to get the right people in office for 20 years but let's face it the people who run for office are dumber than the union they supposedly work for. Name one elected official in 20 years that got you more money after a strike than you had before the strike...can you name one?

Did your UNION bosses only get a strike pay of $200 a week also, I bet not! Will their wages be lowered to your new wage scale? I bet not!
