Dump cable stock now... buying into an "old" media company at the price their offering is ANOTHER money pit! How do these guys stay in business? Oh... I forgot... they package old garbage and charge people $100/mo for it!

That the former CEO of Tribune - Dennis Fitzsimmons - is advising Cablevision tells you everything you need to know about the future of Newsday. First, he drives Tribune into the ground and then gets a platnium parachute after selling Zell a bill of goods about the company. Now, he's back at the trough again - I'd love to know how much he's making as a consultant to the Dolans. You're a parasite, Mr. Fitzsimmons, and you have ruined the lives and jobs of hard-working people all over Tribune not once, but perhaps twice - and in less than a year, too! Vulture.

Go Cablevision GO

I am a newsday employee ... and I feel this would be the best thing for Newsday and the employees, over the Post or Daily News owning us ... Tribune Corp has destroyed Newsday with its Corporate CRAP and the Crap people it put in positions there to do the dirty work of cost savings for wall street. Tribune cut almost 1/2 the staff at newsday in the past 7 years and put thier Corpoerate Jack Asses in charge. The interest of tribune has been not in the healthy future of our Long Island Newsday and the people of Long Island, and it's employees, it has been with the all mighty BUCK
I feel Cablevision will invest in us, bring our Long Island Newsday to where it needs to go to service the future of Long Island News for Long Island People and Advertisers ... TO SERVICE LONG ISLANDERS ...I think Cable can do that. New blood ,, new Ideas ,, healthy future for Long Island..and Newsday Employees.

Well, I just may have to agree with you on this one .. I have been in the mist of DIRTY Fitz and the RUIN of Newsday. But still feel Cable will bring Newsday in to the future .. where Post and Daily News will cut jobs and look for consolidating to save the Potentially dying Post and Daily News ...Newsday and the employees will SUFFER EVEN MORE under POST or Daily News...I thing Cable will not dismantle and destroy us, but invest in the future of our Long Island Newspaper, how Newsday will service Long Islanders and keep the JOBS HERE ON LONG ISLAND

Think about it. If the Dolans buy Newsday they will have built an evil empire on Long Island by controlling the media. We will be controlled by the Dolan thought police.
Cablevison customer service is very poor so we can all look to even worse delivery and reporting from Newsday.

Therefore, you would have approved of Murdoch's owning the paper? Murdoch, who already holds two other rags and two TV stations, as well as several cable networks? Ah, but the rules are different for old Rupert, aren't they? And whenever the rules get in his way, he'd just browbeat the FCC or Congress to change them for his sole benefit. America has dodged a major bullet here.

And I will cancel my triple play with Cablevision if they don't clean house ASAP. F U C K Ragday. Um, how exactly is Newsday anti-Catholic and anti-Jewish? The paper practically made the Pope out to be the second coming during his visit, and Newsday never prints anything negative about Israel (but then again, neither does any other publication). Newsday talks down to its readers and patronizes anyone who doesn't share the editorial board's point of view, and that is why it is failing. That, and the fact that it refuses to acknowledge corruption in the federal government.

Probably the Dolans themselves. They are excellent just ask them. 2. You probably get excellent service because you are an employee or related to a high ranking employee of Cablevison. Is your first name Charles by any chance? 3.I am not stupid but you are showing your ignorance by calling me stupid. Think about it. Sincerely, Sick of the Dolans

But I am sick of people who badmouth big companies like Cablevision, Microsoft, etc. It's like you're jealous or something. You fear large and successful companies. Put it this way, if Cablevision was so bad- it would be bankrupt and out of business. That's the way business works. You have to satisfy the customers. Do you think it's a coincidence that they have 3 million subscribers? Or do they all hate Cablevision like you but have a gun to thier head to stay? Same with these stupid Newsday bashers. People come on here and bash Newsday journalists, etc, yet still read it. Hypocrites.

Under the Dolans, Newsday will become a pay per view site just as News 12 has become. Will the Knicks and Rangers sportswriters be muted and/or fired in their criticism of both teams?

JUST SAY NO TO DOLAN

Hey Jimmy Dolan-remember when you were a punk kid working in my construction department because daddy owned the company and you slept off your boozed up hangovers in the crew cab while everybody else worked? Still the same old Jimmy Dolan. Now we get to pay Triple Play prices to read the comics you bloated money hungry rich north shore elitist! Your service is horrific-your sense of workers rights and fair pay a complete farce and mockery within the industry and you can't run a basketball team for snickers. Run the over paid Dolan monopoly out of town!~!

Right, just like Cablevison buying "The Wiz" was supposed to be "visionary". So when they screw-up Newsday, they'll get approved to raise cable rates again to offset the losses in the rest of their media group. Murdoch would be smart to stay clear.

Phone lines have to be leased to competition, and power generation is deregulated, but Cablevision has the sole right to have its exclusive franchise, and doesn't have to lease its lines to its competitors. And, if you don't think the lines can handle it, they can. If the rules were such that you could subscribe to another cable provider, with that provider leasing the line from Cablevision, Dolan would be selling hot dogs at Madison Square Garden.

I'm glad to see that Cablevision, not Rupert Murdoch, is buying Newsday. However, Cablevision's acquisition of "The Wiz" (remember them?) didn't turn out so good. However, the only thing that's keeping Cablevision together is that the Dolan family owns a controlling interest. If they didn't the company would have been broken up for sale years ago.

What about FIOS? They can operate without Cablevision you moron. You do not know what you're talking about. Why hasn't FIOS taken over the Island?? Why hasn't it come out years ago?? No one can compete. I looked into FIOS' pricing for internet and their fastest package which matches Cablevisions costs triple the price. Literally. Look it up.
