Tax the Rich

"If I did have more boats in that $100,000 range that were 10 years old and in clean condition, I'd have willing buyers for those now," said Bob Treise, owner of St. Croix Yacht Sales in Hudson, Wis.
Yep, better keep those tax cuts on the rich in place lest we keep these folks from nuying a USED boat for a hundred grand.

Tax the rich you are a moron! The "rich" spending money is what keeps the ecomony going - keeps people employed and gives TAX revenue to the state. America was founded on EVERYONE having the CHANCE to succeed. You have the chance so quit being jealous of those who worked hard and have succeeded.

The RICH don't pay nearly the same percentage that I do in taxes. But I've got a $300 stimulus check coming in the mail from our wonderful leader, so all will be well. Dumb A$$

His income tax is say 13% The next person makes 30K a year, his income tax is 15%. Who pays more taxes? By your reasoning the guy paying the 15% number. Next. Yes, let's make the taxes so oppressive on the "rich". Now they don't spend the money on the fancy boat. Good I hope you are happy. But don't think of the consequences. Now Gus down at the lumber company doesn't sell any lumber to the boat builder. The boat builder lays off the 30K guy. The engine manufacturer lays off a few of his 50K guys. The paint dealer goes out of business. Now the whole staff of 30 to 50K people are out on the street. Any of this sink in yet? Meanwhile, rich guy moves elsewhere, or buys boat over seas to avoid taxes. You know why? Because he is rich and can afford to do so. End of lesson. I know, Osama will take care of it all for you and you will not have to trouble your mind with deep thoughts like this anymore. Good luck.

The rich always pay more in terms of cash and the in terms of percentage.

Former DFLer

Remember back in the 80's the Dems had the same hate the rich idea and taxed the sale of new yachts at a high rate. Well it backfired because those evil rich people quit buying them and thousands of people lost their jobs building boats as companies went under. Well at least they showed those evil non share pain' rich folks!
So we took in less taxes from those evil rich folk plus took in no corp. taxes from the companies as they went under and no taxes from the workers wage.
The attitude displayed by some people here is exactly why I'm a former DFL'er. I don't hate rich people nor am I so jealous that I feel the need to take more than their fair share. The top ten percent pay 80% of the taxes in the nation. Without them everyone else including little guys like me pay more. The left is perplexed when companies or wealthy individuals move out of state or country because of this and only wishes to tax people more. Get over yourself and your jealousy. Try taxing rich people back to 75% and see what happens to our country. We'll have no rich people and we'll all pay more.

What used to make America great was the fact that everybody had the same opportunities. Hard work, education, risk taking, and a little luck could result in financial rewards. The posters bemoaning the rich all had the same opportunities.

Minnesota's thirst for taxes requires the registration of canoes. Wisconsin law makers encourage the use of canoes and recognize that their use is not a financial problem for their state. If there are 300,000 canoes in Minnesota, then this number should be subtracted from the listings of state resident boats.

Dumb A$$ Dear Ignorant Reader, Looking at tax $ paid as a % of income is NOT the accepted measure of tax burden. That's a complete DFL / Liberal canard. The accepted measure is the % associated the IRS tax bracket or the aggregate dollars. The Top 10% of wage earners in this country pay about 23% of the overall tax burden, the Top 20% pay just over 70% of the taxes (and the Top 20% is by no means the "rich" - that's a single wage earner annual income of about 75K). As a side note, the bottom 50% of wage earners pay about 4%, and the bottom 25% pay NOTHING. I suppose you think those in the Top 25%, who already pay 70% of the taxes don't pay enough, right?????

Everyone should pay the same percentage. A person who makes the 30k is paying a higher percentage in taxes and he can't afford much else. While the guy paying 13% is paying a smaller percentage but can actually afford to pay the same 15%. Yes, he's paying more $$ but not the same percentage. Grossly unfair.

It is astonishing how many people the Republican machine has brainwashed over the years with its trickle-down argument. Here's a news flash for you: the only way we're going to get out of this mess is a Roosevelt-like infusion of government programming to take care of failing infrastructure and minimum wage, no benefit jobs. Those of you who have opinions but no economic sense or sense of history will claim that this is ancient, retrograde, socialist claptrap that went out with dial telephones. News flash -- it's coming soon to a country near you.

Person A pays $65,000 Person B pays $4,500 dollars. Your right, A's portion is grossly unfair. I see your point now.
