If you Google "Wonder drug that stole my memory" you will probably find an article in the English newspaper Daily Telegraph.
It`s written by Christopher Hudson in April 2009 and it`s about his statin experience. |

Good Lord, i wondered why i was forgetting so much. I wonder if it is the Lipitor? i will have to google that.. thank you |

That is the problem with most meds. a lot of side effects, that may be worse than the symptom that is being treated.
It seems like every time one goes to the Doctor another problem is found and a new medication is added. Is it really worth the risk?? then when you start a new med it is not so easy to drop a drug. I would suggest we take a bit of control of what medicines we allow our Doctors to prescribe. I have a Doctor that gives a new med. almost every time i go!! I just turned 29 and i am on several different medications that are prescribed. |

I am 5'7", weigh 130 lbs., exercise, and do not overeat. Did I mention that I also have high cholesterol? Your theory is flawed. |

Lipitor (statin drugs) also cause confusion in thinking. It removes needed cholesterol in the brain and then is written off as Alzheimer's disease.

The Dr. gave me 80mg of Lipitor to take.Boy what a dose! My Cholestrol was 162 HDLwas 43 LDL89
Triglycerides 148.Iam 70 years old weight 117 do not smoke or drink and walk some everyday. I was on 40mg and the carodologist upped the dose. Does any one out there take 80mg. I talked her into maybe 60mg a day because of leg cramps,so I am trying that. She wants everything lower. Does not want me to eat my Hardees biscuit every day and that has gone bad with me because I have to watch other people eat them and I sometimes eat nothing for breakfast. |

Exactly what I was thinking. I've had medications give me side effects that weren't listed as "known" side effects (the key word there is "Known") and you just have to have enough sense to think "Gee, maybe it's the medication". So you quit taking it for a few days and BLAMMO. There ya go. Tell your doctor and have him try something else. So many of you seem to think it's the 'greed' of Pfizer that causes this....but I say "hey, maybe they just didn't know". I think it's assumed they covered it up for greed. Unfortunately, they'll probably discontinue it, and someone (like my father who takes it) will DIE because of all the sue happy crybabies. My point is: You "whine" about the side effects, but don't even consider that without it, a lot of you might be DEAD, and unable to sue, or complain here on this very post. And we wonder why prescriptions cost so much. What a shame. I personally think it's a bunch of shady lawyers that take advantage of a few people who had bad side effects that appeals to GREED of people who are sue happy. Have you noticed the number of lawyer ads on TV these days...many for class action suits? There's this guy named John Edwards who made a fortune from frivilous lawsuits. Does that name sound familiar? It should, he's a known $cumb@g. |
