I remember when Rod Luck was in Portland, OR. at KATU-TV...the ABC affiliate. He was chased out of town when he was arrested on a large downtown Portland thoroughfare trying to pick up prostitutes. The story ended up on the front page of the Portland Oregonian newspaper the next morning with his KATU publicity shot. He has had a very interesting broadcast career, but the time has come for KUSI-TV to sign him off.

Actually, the crew at KUSI is very professional. The theory behind their hiring decision is the following: Let's hire people who have talent and capability in one area and use them in a completely unrelated area. Usually there are one or two individuals who can rise to the occasion and assume the responsibility of a manager. They could run the show. HOWEVER, looming over their heads is the idea that they could at any moment be randomly pulled into Mike Jr's office and chastised for no apparent reason whatsoever. The real challenge is the technology; instead of investing in technology that works, the KUSI crew is stuck with beta editing decks, microphones that don't work, cameras that wink out, and anchors that mouth off. So the owners look for a scapegoat and put ridiculous expectations on their crew. Meanwhile, someone like the Production Manager (He is a personal friend of Mike's and went to school with him) gets to make inflated salaries for doing nothing but create scheduling discrepancies. The guy waltzes in at 9 in the morning points and enjoys the sound of his voice. No respect or appreciation that his crew have endured less than ideal circumstances and have been up since 2:30 in the am. Incompetence is the only criteria for the management at KUSI, and I'm constantly surprised that Mike hasn't realized that his friend the production manager has taken him for a ride or doesn't seem to care. The end result is that people have responsibility but have no way of implementing their responsibility. SO they are low-paid employees who are really there to take the emotional and verbal abuse from those higher up. With little incentive in pay, and little appreciation, the sound man and the audio man and the camera men just lose interest. Damned if they do, and damned if they don't. The people who are really retarded and incompetent are the producers and writers in the newsroom. These are individuals who can't write worth a lick and still consider themselves "writers." The anchors are constantly stumbling over themselves because these lame-os can't string sentences together that are grammatically and semantically correct. Even when they do present the information clearly, it's filled with misinformation and gaping holes in logic. If you point this out to them, they become indignant. The producers are mostly female with highly inflated egos and estimations of themselves. Unlike the rest of the crew, they actually have it easy and yet complain how unfortunate their circumstances are. Their bottom line is to have all the perks of the job and absolve themselves of as much responsibility as possible. It's crazy to see them laughing and chatting and paying no attention to their jobs while they are doing a live broadcast. But once again, the McKinnons believe that a morning show needs female producers because the demographic is mostly female in the morning. What they need are smart people. Just so you know two of the biggest flakes are a blonde narcissist named Briane, who talks fast, but thinks slow, and is too full of herself to button her lip and listen to others, and the other is the insouciant 10 am producer who would be more effective wrapping bubble gum than producing news. The two are a complete waste of brain space.

Obviously Ruck, you are one of the lower society and scum who believes that putting your hands on a woman is acceptable. Rod will get what he deserves, let it be a lesson for all no one's hands belongs on another whether it is a man or a woman. Ask someone in the military? That would be me. On the two occasions I've met Rod Luck at military events, he was drunk and stank of booze enough that someone two blocks away could take a sniff and catch a buzz. The first time he made sexually explicit comments to us, the second, he got really nasty with one of the guys who joked with him the same way he was joking with them, so Luck got really nasty and insulted this sailors "fat missus". Both times, when he went on air, there was an instantaneous reversal of personality. Suddenly, an entirely different person emerged for the segment's viewers.. funny, charming and a sincere fan of the military, calling us "his heroes". There is no way that KUSI doesn't know.

I've written to KUSI mgmt numerous times regarding Rod's disgusting performances such as removing his dentures, always playing dress-up when at a fire station,(has to wear a turn-out coat and helmet), or at the lab at Scripps he dons a white coat. When at restaurants he puts on the chef's toque, the list goes on and on. He's rude to the people he interviews, and is basically an embarrassment to San Diego. Out of town visitors love to watch him tho, similar to a train-wreck! Wonder what his contract reads, perhaps they'll have to take him back if he's found not guilty. God help us!

I just read on another post..MR LUCK HAS BEEN SUSPENDED INDEFINATELY ( hopefully for good ). I'm like many others who posted, I never understood why he was on the Air at all, he was a bully and uncomfortable to watch. So like many others when he came on I tuned out. So please KUSI let him GO. Other than ROD, I like the other news people. While I'm add it please keep MIKE AQUIRRE OFF YOUR STATION TOO... THANK YOU

KUSI stated on the morning news that Rod Luck was on indefinite suspended leave pending outcome of this case. As for John Coleman, he might not be everyone's taste in reporting weather, But I can't help but giggle when I hear him. LOL

I ws interviewed last summer by Rod Luck and couldn't figure out why he wouldn't let me talk about the subject at hand. It was all about Rod's antics. I hope he's gone from San Diego for good!

Don't know how true it is, but the old rumor mill says weatherman John "K-eeewwwwwww-S-I" Coleman is uber-wealthy as the Weather Channel founder and CEO. Maybe he does the KUSI gig just for fun. Dan Plante seems okay, and that guy Turko does too. But that total bozo, Rod Luck.. not so much!

Rod Luck seems like someone that drinks alot , and with the glasses he wears, the hair and the way he does his presentation I would say he is a bit immature..........I am sure if hit this woman, there was alcohol involved.........I mean seriously what 42 year old woman dates a 58 year old man that looks like Rod Luck unless you are a gold digger or an alcoholic ....ewwww.......

Wonder what his contract reads, perhaps they'll have to take him back if he's found not guilty. God help us! If they take him back they are losing more viewers. I stopped watching him once I saw how he treated people in our neighborhood and ones that he interviewed. The only feedback I have seen or heard is what a jerk he has been to people. It appears he has a huge ego..no surprise he is a cheater.. that thing had to have something to feed on. Good news is now maybe we can go back to watching KUSI news!

Hey I have had some personal experience with Rod and no question that the guy off air is a bigger idiot than his on-air personality. However he does takes us into the San Diego Community more so than anyone else in the local media and he has done a lot of good for San Diego.
Don't pile on while he is down lest we forget that many people thought OJ was guilty before he proved innocent beyond a reasonable doubt. Look at all the good OJ has done since he was exonorated! Ouch!
I will be happy when we can just get one news anchor in San Diego that can actually understand what they read off the teleprompter. Frankly they are all lacking but I am specifically fed up with the "Baby Talk" offered up by Dan Plante in the Morning. It must really suck to have to sell out and be so cute and sparky on Morning TV. He really can't be that dumb in real life can he?
Anyway to end on a positive......Bridget Rocks!!!
