Roger Ebert Proves Good Hair Was Made For White People

Rock created a movie that satisfied the voyeurism of Whiteness on the issue of Black hair. It even allowed Roger Ebert, a White man, to play the role of expert. Don’t Black women have enough to put up with, without White men believing they know everything about our beauty rituals? Whiteness never seems to miss the opportunity to inform us about ourselves. Yes, Ebert knows all about relaxers because he read about them on Wikipedia.

Besides there are some whites who do understand the difference in hair texture for blacks. Not only is Ebert's knowledge based on his 20+ year marriage to a black woman, his point is that even the most cursory knowledge database (Wikipedia) shows how wrong Rock's statements were. "All" Rock had to do was educate himself with Wikipedia to learn more than he thought he knew.

Although it does feel uncomfortable having our dirty laundry basically aired out infront of white people, I still looked forward to seeing it. I couldn't find it on the new movies site yet but I still want to see it. I can't see why the target market for this movie would be white people. To me it seems like it would be clearly black adult women particularly not even brothers.

Gurl, I think I would see it, but probably wait for dvd. Last movie I went to the theater for was Lakeview Terrace. Samuel Jackson is such a great actor!

Well I think he is a great actor...playing himself. As far as, u could say that about 80% of Hollywood. They all play the same character but a different name, different set of circumstances.
