You are referring to Steven Spurrier's now famous "Judgement of Paris"...and "the Mondavi Winery" did not win first prize. The chardonnay was Chat. Montelena (Calistoga, Napa Valley)made by Mike Grgich, and the cab was Stag's Leap Cask 23 credited to Warren Winiarski. The French were not amused.

Like all, icons or otherwise...we have a beginning, and an end. God rest Robert Mondavi's soul...we will not likely see another so mercurial in the wine trade.

Unfortunate that the facts get blurred.
