WHERE DO YOU THINK THE TRADERS WHO RAN UP MOST OF THE LOSSES SAT??? STAMFORD! NOT NYC! NYC HAD THE HEDGE FUND DRCM WHICH WAS A SMALL CONTRIBUTER TO THE LOSSES. so guess where most of the layoffs will take place? and also all of these traders sat in the "investment banking" division even though they are not "investmenet bankers". it's confusing but the bankers are

It's amazing how fast UBS grew in Stamford, from one building to several in just a couple years, with thousands of new employees. Fast growth = big losses ... Now they have to pay the price! RBS might scale back their Stamford expansion plans also, since their huge losses came to light.

I been looking to buy in Stamford for the past couple of years, all I ever heard from realtors was "prices are going to go up up up with RBS and UBS in town. I guess they won't be using that line anymore...prices are down across the board anyway this is just make matters worse

People of the age of 50 will be the first to go. They do that all the time no matter how good or bad they are doing.

Stamford DOWNTOWN Real Estate HAS BEEN GOING DOWN FACT and WILL keep going down. I am seeing 10-20% declines over last year across the board. More to come, much more. Too much supply and alternatives to downtown Stamford, artifically propped pricing and lying realtors..."prices are going up!!!!!!!!!!"..DO they believe their morning meeting spin sessions? Eat dirt now..who's going to be buying after UBS, RBS and GE layoffs and a recission?

I suspect you just don't get it..there is no ageism at a company like that. Some just fail to keep growing and and don't get it anymore. If you get too set and of a closed mindset, you will be gone very quickly anywhere.

I'm seeing 2004/3 prices in a lot of places starting to show up..I think we will be back to 2002/1 prices soon..insist on waiting and negotiate hard don't fall for realtor B/S. They will pretend that Stamford is on an island of it's own immune from the downturn. NO one is not even Mighty Manhattan. Raltors there are also claiming prices are stable/up but you can see fo ryourself

The chairman of KB Homes himself said that he sees further fall nationwide by 20-30% so did Shiller the Yale professor who is an authority on the housing markets.

Thrown in UBS and RBS layoffs..viola..you have an explosive mix..ALSO MANY HEDGE FUNDS ARE CLOSING which doe snot help the market

I suspect you don't get it, fake Stamford Stinks, on how to post here. Don't impersonate me or anyone else.

I know for a fact that ageism is rampant at UBS and at every company in the USA. Also, half of their workers are foreigners here on H1B Visas and contract workers, not to mention the hundreds of jobs they have outsourced to other countries that were once in Stamford.

Will the managerial waste and bonuses for the big boys stop? Hell, no.

It's obvious you have stopped growing and are of a closed mindset to believe that UBS such a wonderful employer. Wake up.

UBS layoffs started today. I was let go today right in the middle of my lunch. I hope they get fined good by the state and the city of Stamford. Shame on the monster (UBS).

Yep Tuesday and Wed will see the bulk of the layoffs with them continuing into the week. Possibly a 1,5000+ jobs in Stamford alone..given that Stamford's population is 125,000, layoffs = over 1% of the total population and possibly over 5% of the adult working population! of course all employees don't live here but a large number do especially those in their 20's and 30's
