Life moves forward either way. I suggest reading any one of William Bridges books on Transition to gain a better understanding of corporate changes and job changes. WaMu is not the only company going through this.

And I suggest you read, "The Deception of the Corporate Dream" on how corporate America is robbing the people blind; promising the world and never coming through; keeping you broke; and controlling your life. Just to name a few. "The Deception..." is the truth about how companies treat their employees. WAMU like the rest don't care about anybody but their CEO's, shareholders and the bottom line...MONEY! So you fools can just go back to work getting it up the azz...someday you'll get it.

Does anyone know how this was leaked and who could be impacted?

The fools who work for WAMU will read this and still go into work everyday hoping and praying it isn't them who gets laid off. They will stay in their limited pay jobs then cry when they have to put their belongings in a box and drive home wondering where the next paycheck will be...fools!

1 Since I was laid off, the friends I have still working there are absolute cheerleaders for this place and for all the crooked management, and will tell you it's a great place to work and business is excellent. At least I've now had a four month head start with my job search...now unrelated to banking. Their day is just around the corner. Time to wake up and . |

typical brainwashing from the management. They want you to think all is well, while they work you to death and then drop the bomb!

Wamu was a great place to work, smart management, great employees.. We are in difficult times in our current economy.
it's like Enron, management is still telling them to buy the stock!!! The employees still there know it's a crappy place to work but I guess they feel they have no alternative but to "play the game" in hopes that they can hang on a bit longer. |
They are fools, the company doesn't care about the employees, they'll drop you like a hot potato to make a profit...
their tune will change when they finally get kicked to the curb and good luck with finding that new job. How blind can you be? |

Attention current WAMULIANS: Your executive leadership doesn't care a damn about you, not one bit. So get over it. Stop drinking the KoolAid. They will eliminate your job without a moment of concern. Each of them earn a bonus which is much more than what you earn in an entire year. Receiving that huge bonus is more of a concern to them than whether you can pay your mortgage payment this month or your electric bill. Is it almost time for you to buy Back to School clothes for your kids? They simply couldn't care less. This weekend, they are golfing at their country club. On Monday, they will meet with the WAMU bean counters and decide which jobs to eliminate to save more money for the company and to increase their bonuses.

1 If there comes a day that Wamu kicks me to the curb then that will be the day I look for a new job. Wamu is a strong bank ( yes I might have just jinxed myself, knock on wood ) but what makes it strong are all of the hard working, caring, compassionate and loyal employees they have. If it wasnt for the employees, the bank would have deceased years ago. |

this goes to Wamu employee who just posted their comments. It seems to me that you are not confident about yourself. If you do believe in yourself and your abilities you should wait till wamu kick out of the door. You can still look for a job while you are working at Wamu. Nothing is wrong with that. I used to work for Wamu, and let me tell something about Wamu. Wamu does not care about its lower level employees. Nor they pay enough for the work they do. You always seek to develop yourself and your knowledge. Helping customers is part of the job. if are scared in turning your back on customers, do not worry, you will have the chance to face others. Yes I agree with you regarding the managers. They get paid to do nothing. They do not coach nor train their employees. Unlike other banks. Wamu is putting food on your table you are. so your doing Wamu a favor for staying. You should always have a exit plan. Do not wait.
With cash limitation that wamu is facing(wamu customers can not withdraw large amounts , when customers ask for it, employees say no i can not). I have seen it happen.and it is still happening. The job market is good. you need to look outside the box. |

Sooner than later wa mu will not need any employees in the USA seems they are just as happy to use outsourcing to handle their customer service problems. I am sure this 7951is not the perfect sight for me to vent but I am going to hit them all. There Customer Service Sucks via the Phillippines. I wasnt even sure they had empl. in the USA cutting up my credit card today!

Foolish isn't it? It's true that many remain employees hoping and praying it isn't them who gets laid off (Kim would be too if she is one of us), it's nature human being and one one should fault us for that. The wise one will - even though they hoped that they won't be on the "list", but they already for that. The layoff will provide time for me to take off 2-3 months 9 with severance pay) before I started looking for another job, or better yet, just call it "enough is enough", and riding into the sunset to enjoy the rest of my life, because I already planned not letting others to dictate of how my life should be, only except for The MAN from ABOVE. If WAMU ever decided to let me go, I won't feel any bitter for it. You should feel the same too, because if I am truly has quality skills and believed in myself, there will be plenty other companies, who would be "lucky" to have me on board. Trust me, even during the dotcom's bust, I have walked away from a high paying job, to keep my sanity & principle. |

Does anybody know what WaMu offers as severance package?
WAMU provides one week of severance pay for every completed "full year" of employment. That is standard with most large companies. If you work two and a half years you get two weeks of severance pay. Nothing for partial years of employment. |
