You got that right. People who REALLY ride won't cut down another riders ride. 2 wheels and an engine is all you need to enjoy the open road.<quoted text>
Alan, WOW, how negative, insulting (general and personal) responses, not to just this post, but all the responses I have read. It is really sad that you haven't been able to respond in a positive manner. Do you have any positive feelings about anything? Try to enjoy life and let others express their opinions without trying to smash them into the ground. Opinions are just that-opinions not facts.
Enjoy life, riding and the beauty of freedom.

arguing over motorcycle brands.. how testicular... Ford has a plant in Viet Nam, Chryslers are made in Canada, most American cars have many parts made in Mexico, most of the steel comes from China, radios made in Indonesia. ad nausium... H-D's are nice for making a mess of noise and shaking to bad you can't see straight. I like my Concours.

The "beauty of freedom", you are truly unaware. I feel absolutely positive about this... |
|
And I am pretty positive that you are unaware of the beauty of the open road. |

you HD guys talking about you loud pipes are so cool. and the jap ricer bikes..well at least we have some power to go with that sound..i cant count how many times these piles of crap roll past me sounding like they are doing 90mph only to see them doing 40mph. those loud pipes on your crap bikes need to be outlawed. your bikes have no power and sound like a missing lawn mower.

You are an absolute I D I O T! I seriously hope you can't breed. I was quoting another persons message -he is the one that bragged about the pennies, not me. |
|
No, I don't think that person is an idiot. The way you had posted it, it read as if you were saying that. |

Do you both not understand the concept of QUOTATION marks? |

That's cool. You just don't get it. No worries. Ride one sometime and maybe you will. You call horsepower "power" while I rely on torque for street usable "power"... so no worries. My bike has double the torque of a typical inline 4 sportbike. You have fun spending all day in 1st and 2nd gear. I can spend hours in 3rd gear keeping up with sporties up in the Rocky Mountains and they just can't get away from me. I guess it's the rider not the bike. |

i like tacos and jap bikes and i love taking jobs from gringos

I raced a Harley today and after some really hard riding I managed to PASS the guy. I was riding on one of those really, really twisting sections of canyon road with no straight sections to speak of and where most of the curves have warning signs that say "15 MPH". I knew if I was going to pass one of those monsters with those big-cubic-inch motors, it would have to be a place like this where handling and rider skill are more important than horsepower alone. I saw the guy up ahead as I exited one of the turns and knew I could catch him, but it wouldn't be easy. I concentrated on my braking and cornering. three corners later, I was on his fender. Catching him was one thing; passing him would prove to be another. Two corners later, I pulled up next to him as we sailed down the mountain. I think he was shocked to see me next to him, as I nearly got by him before he could recover. Next corner, same thing. I'd manage to pull up next to him as we started to enter the corners but when we came out he'd get on the throttle and outpower me. His torque was almost too much to overcome, but this only made me more determined than ever. My only hope was to outbrake him. I held off squeezing the lever until the last instant. I kept my nerve while he lost his. In an instant I was by him. Corner after corner, I could hear the roar of his engine as he struggled to keep up. Three more miles to go before the road straightens out and he would pass me for good. But now I was in the lead and he would no longer hold me back. I stretched out my lead and by the time we reached the bottom of the canyon, he was more than a full corner behind. I could no longer see him in my rear-view mirror. Once the road did straighten out, it seemed like it took miles before he passed me, but it was probably just a few hundred yards. I was no match for that kind of horsepower, but it was done. In the tightest section of road, where bravery and skill count for more than horsepower and deep pockets, I had passed him. though it was not easy, I had won the race to the bottom of the canyon and I had preserved the proud tradition of another of America's best bikes. I will always remember that moment. I don't think I've ever pedaled so hard in my life. And some of the credit must go to Schwinn, as well. They really make a great bicycle... |

My a tool what? Lol dumbass! Seriously, It's the rider. Have you ever seen a Harley rider dragging knee? I have. It was me. And I don't have the biggest Harley. Mine's the smallest frame with the biggest engine. And if you don't get it you don't get it. Like I said... it's cool. Have fun riding... I will too. |
Don't let some of these jerks get to you, anybody that has any sense and rides knows that rider skill if far more important than what you ride. But many in the sport bike crowd think they needed the latest racer replica, chromed out and with the fancy paint. DVD player, sound system, etc. Or they're in to the stunting scene. And many in the cruiser segment think its all about the look too. The right paint job, chrome accessories, pipes. Leather this and that, HD shirts, and all the other BS. But most who have ridden, and can handle a bike on technical roads know that they can get smoked by a more experienced rider on a lesser (technically speaking, handling, power, etc) bike. Ride on, let the posers do the talking. |

Good grief. All this animosity between 'brands'?!?!?!?!?
Hmmmmm. Methinks MANY of you don't 'get it'. There IS no 'real bike'. Some ride because they like the feeling in the seat of their pants in the twisties - or on a straightaway. Others like to 'be seen' and an added piece of chrome is far more important than performance. Though I may agree with one rider's perspective over another, I would NEVER diss an other's choice of machine. I saw one of the coolest riders I've ever encountered today on the way home from an overnight bidness trip. The dude was wearing an ill-fitting three-quarter helmet and riding a Yamaha that was at LEAST 20 years old - in MAYBE 'fair' shape. But there he was - duking it out in heavy rush hour traffic, in the rain, and 48 degree weather. All you knuckleheads that spend your time sniping at each other here in some vain attempt to be 'right' in your choice of bike, aren't worthy to lick that guy's boot heel. |

Absolutely LOVED the story, darn near dropped my laptop laughing so hard. You made my WEEK!! Back to my question about riding. Based on your response to Just Me Over Here, am I to believe you always wear a helmet? If so, what type? |
