There was and still is a debate about whether the government intervention into General Motors was a success, but at the end of the day it seems that the country would have been far worse if the government stayed on the sidelines.

Sure it did , how's the economy down there
Gm has divided america more than any other issue since the civil war
They didn't need the bailout
They could have sold Saab Saturn hummer Opel and Pontiac
But they killed them instead because they didn't and can't compete
The factories that had to close closed any way
Worst case scenario the chinese come in and buy them
So what they own everything else too
