Steve esman is known for firing people he has never even met. I worked for Magna out of SoCar in Alabama for almost 5 years. Thxgvg week of 08 they fired over 100 people ( 25 supervisors the wed before thxgvg day ) all without notice.
Some they waited until they were threw with the days work and then walked up to them and escorted them out of the bldg.
I myself was canned here by him because someone toild him they didnt like working with me - they wanted my entire work area changed and we all said no - since I worked for a suplier - I was gone.
I would have loved to have met Steve so we could have had a talk face to face. I was actually fired by a suspension - then at the end they didnt even call me and tell me I was fired - I had to call them so they could tell me.

What makes you think it was Steve Esman? He never worked in Alabama. He doesn't even work for Magna any longer.

Happy to have a job wrote:
I beleive Steve Esman is a pre closer for Magna. It may look as though things are going great with him but, beware he was at Marada it closed. Then went to Montezuma slimmed it down and made sure it was ready to close. It's looking like it has about a year to go.
well lets see its way past your closing deadline its still open and guess what its going to support a assembly facility in kc with its sister plant in victor. wburg still running guess ill bet against anything you say and win

I had my first day at a magna facility today. The attitudes and philosophy there is excellent. The negativity surrounding a world leader in the Industry is shocking. Dedication, disciplin and hard work..... As a team..... Builds success. What happened to our pride as Canadians in our manufacturing? I have read some posts here and all I read is complaining about wages and cuts. The high emPloyee turnover rates are mostly because of the fear of hard work. Sometimes, it's about getting in there doing what you are paid to do and do it consistently. This is how success is measured. When systems are followed and repeated with consistency, non conformances stand out through trending and ate now easier to assess and correct. When we get complacent, we cant see the issues.

You need to get your facts straight. Steve Esman was GM at Eagle Bend, Clinton, TN--and quit Magna, returning to Michigan--He was never the GM in AL.

Where did they go wrote:
Where did all the good guys go? When Steve Esman (GM) and Jack Stewart(HR) were leading the team at Marada the plant was working well together. As different ones left, it was no time before the plant went "down hill" and is now closing their doors. So long to the good old days and the good guys! There was a time...long ago...when you felt good about going to work and you liked the people you worked for and with!
These were two great leaders and they invested in the lives of the workers, It would be great to have a reunion with old friends from Marada.

[The Magna Plant mentioned have a long reputation of poor morale in their plants, beating up on suppliers, managers in these plant have a very low lifespan, unless they are the old dogs it would cost to much to severe off
It would take, relaistic wages to be agreed, stress off the managers, so they can actually function to control outcomes, stop pricing to break even.
But it is different world after 2008, and only those willing to be different willing to give and take on BOTH SIDES will survive
Many of the plants that do not perform well are also aging buildings and money pits, what you see and are told, and the real truth, are 2 different things, they know were they are dying and let it, Bullies may win for a while, but eventullay the piper needs to be paid. And no I am fortunate enough not to work for the great Frank

Indeed. At the time in question (Late 2008) he was AGM at Drive Automotive in South Carolina. I worked there at the time so I would know.
