I've heard about anything !! I can understand ppl are scary, but please, don't repeat things that you can't double check the source. Even when you do check the source, things move and change very fast. So, the last ''supposed to be good'' info that i have is that no real move will be made untill January. Meanwhile, pure speculation, only. Happy holydays to all of you ! May the next year be a good one for all of us.

Good Point!!! Things change in a drop of a hat. All we can do is go to work and do the best we can and hope we have a job the next day. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year to everyone!!!

Well,Tower announced on the 20th that they have a 250 million dollar plan to back them. That when they come out of bankruptcy they will be able to pay their main creditors? well what about the other issues? for example employees whose plants closed?employees who were laid-off?employees who became sick and had no medical insurance?I guess employees do not count, but money for the legal expenses of corporate execu-rats are the most important. No wonder Japanese Companies are taking over the USA,China is an enemy to be dealt with the automotive industry in the USA is going to go through hell unless it makes some changes,I am UAW and hope that the big three have the the brains to compete with China and Japan,President Bush is of no help,Sorry Republicans,GOD BLESS US ALL WITH GEORGE IN OFFICE.

At athens mold operators, inspectors, assemblers all make the same, labor grade 3 which is $14.87 per hour.(at topout, which is 18 mos). Our painters and forklift drivers make a lil more but not sure how much exactly. Lead people make more, not sure how much, I don't have my book in front of me at the moment. We also get a senority bonus, it is a extra .05 per hour for every 5 years of service. We have a shift premium of .25 for second shift and .30 for third shift. Our personal time is paid time off which we earn more the more years of service we have.
the rantoul plants assemblers only make $12.02when they been their 18 months

<quoted text>
Great to see unions do such a wonderful job protecting all employees with EMPLOYEE FUNDING. You must be from an older generation, because most companies are out to make money and remain cost competitive to be able to compete against foreign markets. Unions hinder that ability by their inability to see the writing on the wall that if "lean" practices are not used, a company cannot remain competitive and that leads to companies folding. Unions are not needed as they were in the past due to state and federal legislation that now protects employees, without making someone else rich (top union management). The Big 3 cannot remain competitive against foreign markets due to their labor costs and benefit packages. One person who puts on 1 bolt onto the vehicle makes a lot more than they are worth at their suppliers. The Big 3 have squeezed their suppliers literally to death due to their inability to be cost competitive due to UAW contracts and now they have no where else to turn to even attempt to be cost competitive because they have killed so many suppliers due to money givebacks. The UAW is just another business trying to remain competitive in the market place, but unfortunately many people realize now that their use is long over and that the state and federal government in which they alreay pay each week will take better care of them without spending additional money for someone else to get rich.
yes finally some one said it UAW wants to make themselves bigger and better at a greater cost to us the workers its called constant growth
but the only thing that is cappible of this is....
CANCER
i work for the japs now toka rika huge but its good money bcbs ins 401k ect trim corprate fat
top 80% of the income of most companys are paid to ceo'S even if the co is in the red we aint carefull this country will be a third world type soon

well heres another round of layoffs! Neverending story. This one promises to be a real big one. We got to go back for several weeks, now we are back to unemployment which runs out shortly. No end in site in michigan. Supposed to get a Ford contract, but management sounded like its the beginning of the end.

Tower is fraught with incompetence! The upper tier of management(Novi) is so far out of connection with the manufacturing plants it would be virtually impossible to make a turn around to the positive. They are clueless and have totally insulated themselves from the reality of manufacturing!
Peter dollars! That's what counts. Not real $'s and cents.Theoretical savings that are calculated on a fantasy Monopoly style game board.
Every morning at Novi the " leadership" fights to see who gets the locomotive game piece, who gets the dog and who gets the lead pipe. oops, wrong game, the lead pipe is from the game Clue.Speaking of which Tower"leadership" has NO Clue!
Tower is a learning lab for people gravitating to other jobs up the ladder.
If these insolent fools would sit down, get their heads out of their asses, snuff out the hooka pipe and take inventory of the loyal HOURLY employees that ARE interested in making SHIT happen tower would have been that viable supplier group that Dug and his Doper friends dreamed about.
Ok.....WHOA! I just woke up!
Tower viable?
People that really care?
NAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!
Time to take a shit and feel better !

A Peter Dollar: Named after the leader of lean manufacturing and continuous Improvement.
Typically these dollars are a measure of theoretical savings over the course of a year. However if the implemented improvement subjects the operation to a negative cash value, the real savings are calculated as a ZERO.
