The United States of America had no taxes and did very well without them! Pick up a US history book before you speak. There's nothing moron about it!

We do not need the government to "provide" for us through taxes (our money--not the government's) which only are wasted in a lot of red tape and stolen by corrupt politicians for their own political gain and power which is currently happening on the largest scale in history!

Try reading and studying history because if you don't, you are IGNORANT, and the government can throw anything at you and brainwash you into lulling security and moronic boredom.

"LIVE FREE OR DIE"--that is the state slogan for New Hampshire started by General John Stark who is the state's most distinguished Revolutionary War hero. Ronald Reagan said it was his favorite slogan; and Ronald Reagan helped to bring down the Berlin Wall and end the Soviet SOCIALIST Republic.

Obama is polarizing the nation instead of uniting it--a far, far cry from General John Stark or Ronald Reagan or George Washington or Abraham Lincoln, or, etc., etc., etc.

Have you SERIOUSLY looked at the tin cans the government is throwing at us as cars? Not only will a person's body not fit into it comfortably, but a person's safety is at huge risk with its tin-thin body--but then, if you are in the tiniest accident, the vehicle is TOTALLED, and the automakers are in a WIN/WIN situation to replace the car.

My guess is they further want to polarize the nation by polarizing familiies because the cars are so tiny that an entire family cannot fit in them and travel together. Next, they will want to take away our children--no.....wait....they are thinking of doing that already with their volunteerism where they will "indoctrinate" i.e, brainwash our children into thinking like miniature socialists.

You don't get it. Our money we saved has been devalued, while the Republicans have enriched the very wealthiest of the wealthy. So they will be fine, but the money most Americans saved won't buy cat food or be enough to pay for maintenance of homes that they own free and clear, not to mention property taxes. You must be so poor, you wouldn't know the difference. You probably never had anything to have lost. Oh well.
Boo Hoo for you.....

Blame EVERYBODY else but yourself. NEVER take responsibility for anything. Typical welfare recipient mantra.

Doesn't matter if I tell you that I'm rich, poor, or in between- you have no way of knowing if I'm being truthful. But obviously my assessment of you was spot on.

I do feel sorry for some of those retirees. Some of them that started with GM 40 yrs ago probably never dreamed that things would end up like this. They were working people that just wanted to put food on the table and have a home of their own. Then came some greedy people. The executives and some blue collar workers that thought they would get a huge piece of the pie. The execs kept getting more and more and the unions wanted to get more and more. Pretty soon their nice little set-up bottomed out. Greed from the execs and greed from the union is what ruined GM. If I had worked for GM, I would also have been one of those greedy union workers. It's just the way things are. Someone wants to keep throwing more $$ and better benefits at me, you had better believe I would take it. I don't think that there are too many people out there that would not do the same.

What a moron!
Then we can enjoy the anarchy that Somalia now enjoys. ARGG, a pirate's life for me. LOL
How can you be so stupid? Imagine life without taxes. Is there a single CIVILIZED country in the world where you would choose to live without taxes???? If so, do us all a favor and just move there.
Now go and enjoy your tea.
Just because you were conceived in the back seat of a volkswagon buss with flowers and peace signs painted on it, while parked at woodstock, has something to do with the brain damage you now have.
No wonder you eat dog sh*t for breakfast.
Then you come on topics and think you can give everyone that doesnt comment the way you like, a hard time.
NOW how can you be so stupid?

Disagree .

Since the 1950s , starting with the " Bug" and the Japanese cars a decade later the option has been on the table and those wanting fuel efficient vehicles had the opportunity to buy them.

I lost $100K in the market this past year, investing on my own. Thank God, I diversified my investments, but basically EVERYTHING I invested in went DOWN in value. I have two advanced degrees, but you think the average American is going to do better than I did. LOL
I still don't know what you plan to have when you retire. How much do you think you will need to live per year and for how many years? Maybe you don't expect to live long. People are talking about retiring in their forties. Well, if you live close to 100, that's almost 60 years! So you think you worked enough in about 20 years to pay for 60 years of retirement. You must be selling crack, if not smoking it. Either that or you plan to live in poverty, eating roadkill. That's your choice. Screw the American dream. We will just be another banana republic. LOL
How could you be so stupid as to lose $100k? You should ask for a refund on those supposed degrees of yours. Why didn't you take your money out of the stock market BEFORE the housing crash? Are you going to tell me you seriously couldn't see the crash coming? OMG, a blind & deaf man could see the crash coming. I imagine you lost a lot then in the tech crash of 2000 also. Those who don't learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

Greed is the problem. Everybody wants to be rich rich rich, then when you lose your shirt you expect a big pity party.

BTW, I retired at age 38 from the military with full healthcare benefits and haven't had to work a day since. If you want your pension guaranteed, I suggest you join the military, otherwise it's a roll of the dice. Anybody can do what I did, you just have to be willing to make some sacrifices. Obviously you made a poor career choice......

Yet according to BUSH, when the banks "make bad choices" we the taxpayers have to pay the price. You are a hypocrite. You don't believe in "welfare" unless it's for corporations or pet projects that YOU like. More hypocrisy!
Enjoy your loneliness. No wonder tourism isn't better up north. Who wants to enjoy the natural beauty of northern Michigan when they might bump into a sour puss like you. LOL
When did I ever say I favored any breaks for corporations? Try to stereotype me & you will fail miserably. Are you one those sad people who tries to turn absolutely every argument into a Repub v. Democrat blame game? Try actually thinking for yourself.

I don't want or need ignorant cityfolk roaming around rural Michigan. If they want to live in a city, then they should stay in the city.

Something to think about

In the small towns across the USA, people are takeing there own lives. The news media is not telling all... I know a guy in his 30s construction worker, due to the economy, work was not as plentiful, ect...he took his own life. How much of that is going on that never makes the news? what will be the final number of deaths this economic crisis has caused, I could only imagine its going to be over whelming.

Nobody has a problem with the way the free market system works. If the UAW workers could get the CEOs to pay a certain wage or benefit, more power to them. But they get no sympathy from me when the gravy train ends. They had every chance to save & invest; instead they spent every penny and then went back begging for more.

Sometimes as a GM Retiree myself, I just wish Bush would of walked away. This waiting and guessing to see what will happen is to much somedays.
But if he had walked away there might of been a lot more suffering going on rightnow.
But one thing for sure I am sure we would not be getting all this internet chatter, about how low life the UAW is. They wouldn't be haveing tea-parties, more like lynching party's for shelby and corker and things like that.

Totally agree. The days of unions are over, for now. I think unions need to be restructered and get back to what they were originally intended for. I think a little to much greed not only with the union wworkers, but the execs also, is what did GM in

I say good riddance. Those losers are going to kill themselves one way or another; they are just looking for an excuse. Face it, if you can't handle a minor recession how would you ever be expected to survive another great depression or the next world war etc. They are just dead weight (pardon the pun) hanging around Americas neck dragging us down.

Grow a pair or kill yourself- I don't really care, but don't sit there whining......

I agree with you, our elected are controled by the elite groups... I dont like the way BO is spending trillions of dollars, McCain was not a good choice for America but out of the last 10 Presidents/Congress they all have done there part to put America where it is economic wise.
