What would hurt this region more, losing the Cavs or Losing Lordstown?

I HOPE THE UAW REJECTS GM'S OFFER. THEY HAVE PUT WORKERS IN FROZEN STATE NO COLA, NO BENEFITS,WAGE FREEZE,NO PENSIONS FOR NEW HIRES.WHAT NEXT A PAY REDUCION IN THE NEXT CONTRACT? THIS IS 90 YEARS OF UNION STRUGGLE GOING DOWN THE DRAIN.

Where exactly did you get your information? Why would you wish all these people would lose their jobs when you don't even know them? You do not stand beside them to watch them work therefore you do not know which ones work and which ones do not. How dare you wish my family lose their income. You are a very selfish jealous person to wish such ill will on people and their families. As far as the jobs being sent over seas, you better hope they do not. You see people like do not realize the trickle down effect of losing mass production will have on the economy in the area of the plant. The loss of jobs will not only be contained in the plant but to all that have anything to do with the plant. Those people could very well be Non-union delivery people that you just wished out of a job! |

GETTELFINGER VEBA DELIVERS UAW RETIREES TO GATES OF POVERTY?
Didn’t Gettelfinger already slice up retirees with the help of a couple of blue collar brown nose turn-coats in 2005 that went to court to void the legal ramifications of the contract pertaining to fellow retirees? Didn’t they together already force struggling retirees to reduce their feeble pensions to pay for badly needed health care? Weren’t retirees supposed to be untouchable until 2011? Retirees are not allowed to vote, so how many times will this gullible Gettelfinger want to reopen the contract to again attack defenseless forgotten retirees who fought the good fight for today’s workers? What kind of unionism is Gettelfinger and his tiny group of three vice-presidents subjecting the UAW”s hundreds of thousands of retirees to? Rewarding workers with bonuses to devastate and sell-out innocent retirees and their spouses won’t solve the problem. What kind of tacky solidarity and unionism is this? Gettelfinger’s chump signing bonus is a backhanded swindle that is not comparable to what all retirees will lose going forward. The only ones smiling will be the corporate executives as they cash in their even larger bonuses because they put the big one over this small handful of gullible UAW leaders. Autoworkers have been demonized and falsely accused when the industry problems have clearly been from huge management mistakes over decades. Workers have given painful concessions and their concessions have funded the building of more foreign plants, which translated into the evaporation of two thirds of their jobs. Gettelfinger has been around for 30 years. Where was he as these jobs disappeared? The company’s promises to guarantee employment have been proven to be empty lies that are not worth the paper they are written on. Don’t workers know this by now? These shocking retiree cuts will free up funds for further corporate foreign expansion. Remember this in five years after Gettelfinger and his little group of three captain vice-presidents, who are together doing this to hundreds of thousands of trusting retirees, are comfortably retired on their very lucrative, comfortable and secure pensions. Are local union presidents supporting their retirees? If not, why not? Ask them. This tiny handful of people, who call themselves UAW leaders, have refused to get off their cowardly yellow knees and grow a backbone. Their groveling has been an embarrassment to union solidarity, which has served to destroy the cause of labor as they disrespect, attack and sacrifice their powerless retirees. Silence is not golden on this gut-wrenching contract. For sure you know nothing about the auto industry. Look at the wages paid to auto workers outside of North America. No one here could live on that. Imports arive here every day. But our cars are subject to tariffs when we try and sell them in Asia. Is that fair? I have worked for GM for 32 years. Line work makes for a long day. Every day that is. What was easy when you were 20 is much harder at 50. Quality has nothing to do with a union shop. You sound like a bitter man who missed out on a better life. Grow up.
|
Sounds like 50-year-olds who have been doing the same job for 30 years have sort of missed some opportunities along the way to move up and off the line so they don't have to physically labor as much. |
|
The UAW thinks they are entiltled to totally ridiculous stuff! Most of them didn't even go to college and now wanna bitch about their work being hard! They think it is their god given right to receive totally outragous benefits that no other company could ever afford to give and they are driving GM into the ground. I'm willing to save for my own retirement. My mom is a nurse and will never receive anything close to that of UAW workers. THESE ARE NOT YOUR RIGHTS. save your own money and pay for your retirement like the rest of the country or better yet take what you are getting handed to you and quit complaining all the time. |

Keep it up uaw lackeys, your union and jobs will go the same way as the urw union and jobs did. Only problem is, when you go down, you fools take the rest of us down with you.

Do you belive these UAW morons have struck a plant where the Chevy Malibu, a great car that is selling well is made? They say it is over "local issues", but it may be in order to prod GM into intervening in a strike at American Axle that is several months old. Those axles go on a lot of SUVs and Trucks GM makes. That shortage of parts is hurting GM badly. This stupid action is after GM just announced a 3 billion dollar loss. Hundreds of thousands of Detroit jobs have evaporated and these union guys still don't get it. There is no guarantee GM, Ford, or Chrysler will survive. We have choices we didn't have 30 years ago. We don't need to buy your stuff. Hondas, Toyotas, BMWs, Mercedes, Nissans, and many others are built right here by non-union labor. Organizing efforts have fallen flat. I am thankful every day I left that entitlement mentality environment of the old rust belt. What CEO in his right mind would invest hundreds of millions in an Akron or Cleveland area plant only to have it held hostage every 3 or 4 years by a bunch of unskilled goons wanting to be paid like professionals? Did I mention the crummy weather? |
|
For someone who is so happy to have left the "rust belt" with its "crummy weather", you sure pay an awful lot of attention to what goes on back here (based on your numerous posts). Isn't there enough going on in the wonderful south to keep you occupied? Why don't you stay down there entirely and just shut the F #$ K up? |
