American Axle voting on new contract

Striking workers at American Axle and Manufacturing Holdings Inc. are voting on a new contract with the Detroit auto supplier that would cut their pay.

I hope they stay on strike until another vendor gets all the orders, the threat of which is why they're even voting.
Granted,CEO's are grossly overpaid, sometimes when a co. is losing momey or bankrupt, but all the grunts(army term)
on the floor always throw up to bitch about their lot in life.........take your insane $105,000 GIFT, shut up, and hope you maybe have a job in 2 years.

CEO's sign a contract and they get paid what's in in; no more, no less. Besides - the CEO works more hours in a week than the shop rats do in a month. Don't even try to call them apples to apples. They got an education, studied, and worked their way up to deserve high pay and benefits - and they make huge decisions that can effect thousands of lives; stress like that isn't good. All you union scum do is sit around running a simple machine that took no education (just training) and you may, if you're ambitious, put in an honest 4 hours of labor each day and then you go home and forget about work until the next day. Salaried people never get to quit working because most of the work is intellectual and wakes you up at night with new ideas, or you can be called by that sub-company in another time zone or country that doesn't do a day off for July 4. I've had to leave family celebrations for Thanksgiving, 4th of July, New Years, and Christmas and even my surpise birthday party to attend to a call from work. The next time you get a call from work at 2AM asking if you could get up at and quick do a few parts on the punch-press in your basement let me know. Face it - no one who actually works for a living will ever support unions or the bloated salaries they demand.

Unions had a place in history and did some good things, but times have changed and they are only here to fill their own pockets on the backs of people too ignorant to see differently. How much do the executives of the UAW make each year? About as much as executives at actual companies who produce a product.

I couldn't have said it better myself. The only thing I can think to add is that when the executives do take off work, all of the work they miss is there waiting for them when they return. When the machine operator takes off work, somebody else takes his place. I wish somebody could take my place when I'm not at work.

I can't believe I forgot that. Oh wait - now I know why I forgot it ... I can't recall the last time I took a real vacation as it ends up being more work when I return than it's worth! 40 hours paid vacation I earn = 80 hours work the first week I'm back! Maybe we should get the unions to help us out on this one and get us $90 an hour for our work?

When the government opened the borders from Mexico and let 60 million of them come to the US, they knew some day these bosses wouldnt have to give in to higher wages. If the American's wont work for what they're offered, there's plenty of them that will, and without the employer paying for health benefits, because the govt allows many of them to qualify for medicaid. What a shame.

Most salaried workers must dig out after they take any vacation time. Thanks to the AA strike impacting our business, I am basically being made to use up my vacation time now, so the accounting (labor) numbers look better, and yes, when I get back I have to catch up. I am blessed to have a job. However, we have not had raises here in five years due to the business climate, which in part is in the state it is in because of $27/hr non-skilled labor driving up costs! Accept it and be thankful.

Don't take it!! Wouldn't it be interesting to see one of the big 3 fold?
