Just close the doors. You will do everyone a favor,we are now super micromanaged and now we clean windshields. WHAT A JOKE...... This company has absolutely NO DIRECTION going forward and is completely lost. Advance loses sales and customers more and more because you run the stores so empty and still cannot link the system. After 4 years ive had enough with the lying, cheating, stealing and promises. Unprofessional,No direction and completely LOST explains Advance auto parts core values. Just stay away!!! O'Reillys will put the final Nail in the coffin soon enough.

Numbers...that's all they care about. They don't care about the employees making those numbers happen. Within the past month I've lost my benefits, my vacation time...even my home, now I'm hearing that if I don't increase my sales then I either have to take a pay-cut and get demoted or I'm at risk of losing my job. Our store is understaffed, I'm currently training 2 fairly new people and I have 2 more new people coming in. Somehow I have to balance tasks, train the new people, and increase my sales. They tell me to assign tasks to other employees, but I have 2 part time sales people (whom I rarely work with), 2 part time sales people who are still learning, and I am getting 2 new part time people who haven't even started their NHOST training. I really don't understand this company. I've tried hard to find a way to make all this work, but every time I ask our DM a question, he gives "corporate reasoning"...more like a BS excuse. The only reason I stay and put up with this crap is because I don't want to "let them win". I want to put up a fight to make things a little less easy on them. They say my "attitude" is what brings my team down. I've talked to my team, they've heard my DM talk to me, and they've heard my GM talk about me...I can assure you that it is not my attitude that brings them down. What I like about this site, is that I am being heard. I can complete an actual sentence and speak my mind. I've tried to do that with my DM, but it doesn't work. Instead, when he notices that things are a little uneasy, he tells my GM to have a talk with me to find out my problem, then he goes home. He doesn't straight up ask like someone in a leadership position should, he has someone else do his dirty work because he knows the person that he has a problem with will speak their mind.

Get out why do people stay. I was a RPP with Advance and realized that it was a horrible place to work, so guess what I left.

It doesnt matter if its Advance, Autozone or O'Reillys. All these companies really care about is the stockholders. If they dont show increases in sales its the employees fault from the Gm on down, as most of the DMs simply do what they do best, and thats doing nothing but micromanage to keep their own jobs.So when you go to one of these stores keep in mind, its not a repair shop, its a retail store, they are there to sell parts. The employees just look at it as a job, not a career since they can be fired for any reason at any time so why care. Do your research ahead of time and youll find you can get better deals online, or have it shipped to the store and save money and time. Soon most auto parts locations will be mearly pick-up locations for your online orders anyway. Be smart, educate yourselves now.

I was a a RPP myself. Yeah, it sucked. My DM suggested I would be better placed as AGM...if that position still existed at our store.(Remember that sentence for later in my post.) My GM hired a new guy, his best friend since childhood. He was there for nearly 2 months and the CPP position opened up, he was initially given that position (no automotive experience what so ever) without the CAM or retail DM giving the 3 other qualified candidates the opportunity. The other 3 (including myself) had already taken the certification test and have been there at least a year.
his dad took his test...over the phone. When the 3 of us complained about it, they decided to give CPP to one of the 3. To keep him from getting upset and quitting, they made up a new "title" for him and gave him a raise. The CPP position came open again and us other 2 people were given the opportunity to speak up for the position and the "best friend" was being transferred. I went to work Monday and low and behold the "best friend" was our new CPP. I had been employed there for 3 years when I suggested that I would be putting in my notice. They never once asked me what pushed me to want to leave. They never offered any incentive to stay lie they did the "best friend" after his first 2 months of employment. The DM just said to fax him my resignation letter. Days before my final day, I found out that the store was receiving a transfer employee from another state. He would be our AGM, the position I was told no longer existed at our store. I enjoyed my job, I enjoyed my customers, but the CAM, GM and the influence of the "best friend" made employment there miserable. I felt as if I were being "held back" not only because of my gender, but also my sexuality. Before the "best friend" came along, the GM was great. He was an "employees manager". After the "best friend" arrived, the "best friend" would make decisions and judgement calls through the GM. When potential employees were being interviewed, their interviews were usually done on my days off by our GM and the "best friend". There were several times I wasn't aware of a new hire until I came to work and saw them in the back doing the NHOST training. I've wanted to mention all this to someone higher up in the company, but I honestly don't know if it's even worth it.

I am a GM as well and I install everything. Your GM must be a lazy piece of Shit.... With that being said.... The hours suck, the pay isn't great, upper mgmt is outside hired now and we ALL know they don't know anything about OUR jobs. The company just fell to number 3 now. After thirteen years its time to leave....

So what's going on with all these negative comments about our company. Times change and so do people if you got terminated i'm sure you deserved it. Maybe your complacent and need to get back to the basics of running your stores. Its time to get back to being a MANAGER i for one have been here 12 years and have been through all the changes since 1999 i have to say we have had our ups and downs but we are progressing in the right direction accountibilty is on "YOU" Take back your job by "DOING YOUR JOB"....My passion and growth have been the same over all these years. And About Darren Jackson he is a good guy and although we seem to think jobs are being cut for no reason thats's not true if your not pulling your load then i suggest you get back in with both feet. I myself lost a 50 hour a week AGM to a 40 hour a week AGM difference is i'm going to get my drive back on to get my AGM 50 hours again by Driving sales and keeping a positive attitude and supporting my Company
I am a 14 year gm and have been through all the changes as well. But you have to be dilusional to think that everything is fine. Look at stock pricing and growth indexing of Zone and Oreillys. They are number one and now number two. We just dropped to number 3. Their stock prices and market share are growing while ours are stagnant. This company has lost all direction with upper management that has never worked in a store. No wonder we are up for sale...

Man am I glad I got out before all the BS started... I saw through Mr. Jackson's BS, when all the GMs DMs and RVPs met in Orlando.. All the micromanagement tools that started in 2010 when he took over.... LOL, there's a reason he's not at Best Buy anymore... And it's not because he's a good CEO! The day AAP sells will be my greatest day!!! I can't wait to call my former co workers to ask them how it feels knowing I was right all this time!!! BTW, I quit AAP after five years of being a top tier GM, winning GM of the year three times... And having the highest grossing store in region 41... Thanks for nothing advance auto parts!!! ;)

this company has completely lost all focus and has fallen off its own created cliff.More Best Buy goons have been brought in and the amount of micro management is flat out unreal. There really is no saving this company, the damage has already been done. I have been with this company for 5 years and this place has had a straight nose dive the past 4 years.Get rid of the check engine light free service, there is no reason to have your employees guessing what to fix with a $200 code reader. The computer systems are vastly outdated and crash constantly for unknown reasons and oh the system is still not linked together. So before you start blaming your skeleton crew you've created in almost all stores, unrealistic store hours(215 for a 30,000 + store)(2 person min at extremely busy hours(5-9pm)).maybe its time to look at the real issue and who's making the decisions before you start blaming your team for lack of sales. When i approach my district manager about a concern, all i get is "i dont want to hear it",well you asked me why and im telling you why. The team does not care anymore because there is no appreciation or respect from upper management. This can go on and on and on but until someone with a brain actually gets it,dont count on anything changing for the better. It will be more BS from the top.

Darren Jackson is the main reason this company has gone down hill. Since he was hired the company has taken a slow and steady drop to the #3 spot. Now they are trying every move in the book to reduce costs so Darren can cash in his stocks. he sold over 5 million of his stock in February of this year, and has about another 18 million he can cash in when he wants. Not a bad haul for five years worth of "work" as he keeps reducing payroll by understaffing stores and making budget cuts in all the wrong areas to maintain stock prices. Oh, and he also hired another best buy goon as President to aleviate his heavy work load. Good going Darren, the only ones making money at this companies are the ones at the top, and they are taking way more then they deserve.Simple solution to all of this, get rid of the big money takers, reinvest into your stores, staff the stores to provide great customer service and get product quality and pricing correct.

Grow up, bunch of cry babies. You get paid to sell, not just stand there and take orders like you are running a BK drive thru...hell even they ask if you want to super size or what a cherry pie or something. Just face it, most of you will just go from low paying job to low paying job, because you CHOOSE to not sell that cherry pie. Either your lazy or uneducated, or both. Don't worry Obama will write you a check. Losers.

worked here 4 years at several stores. dick head Darren comes in with his ignite bullshit and all anyone does is fight for sales. I wonder if anyone else has considered a class action suit against the company for instigating a very hostile environment. hell the company is egging us on to compete, it's bullshit. also our manger does nothing. I am of a tilted position, I will not disclose what. I work my ass of because that's just who I am and people do help when I ask. asshole calls it piss poor management because I don't dictate then run and hide when s customer comes in. another thing, the training videos are so juvenile, stick assler or what ever, just have big bird tell us that oil goes in the engine. what do they think we are, kindergarteners? thankfully I may in coming days have an interview with a few companies who would appreciate my training and skills instead of insult them. to all who have not drank darrens koolaid, good luck to you, keep your head high and keep looking, hopefully salvation is out there.

As long as you work for Advance auto parts, youll have your life sucked away from you on a slow and steady basis. The company will continue to work you as a slave demanding more and more every day using outdated computers that have yet to be connected to order simple parts that should be stocked anyways as they dont want more inventory then needed at any location. Guess what, the customer walks, you punch the lost sales button, big deal, customer is gone, will not return, isnt that wonderful. All this while each team member has to maintain a certain dollar per hour figure as customers stop comming to your store as they can never get what they need. If any one at Advance is reading this consider a very simple, yet effective way to make money. Get the best people, the best parts, and the best prices, and youll always be on top. Oh i forgot, being on top means raping millions of dollars from the company while cutting back hours and benefits to the ones that are making you the money. Geeez, i guess i havnt been drinking the Koolaid.
