Most people who have done at least a little bit of their homework ALREADY KNOW that you can sell your car through a Retail dealer with a Wholesale license, so this is no secret. The problem is, most retail dealers WON'T do you this favor, because they themselves already have a retail dealer license, or, it's not worth the trouble of them helping you this way for such little profit. If you have been able to find a retail dealer to help you this way, good for you, you are lucky, because MOST will not do it.

This is why many people who have a wholesale license are now selling ILLEGALY on Craigslist and other places, and praying the authorities do not catch them and send them to prison for doing this, which they will if caught.

I've been involved in this business before (auto wholesale license) and I can say you definitely won't get rich and depending on the laws in your state could bring some trouble (how you advertise the car, where you sell it from etc.) State Licensing Bureaus hate this program because of all the shady individuals it draws not to mention the control over who sells cars and income lost by the state in licensing fees.(no offense to you guys who are honest and just trying to get by) However, the whole thing is predicated on having a relationship with a licensed auto dealer who will do the final paperwork so you can actually move (sell) the car to the public. I can say the business involved with helping you get licensed should provide this service and probably does(shipping paperwork back and forth across state lines via fed ex or some other expedited service). Even though this was the case when I was doing it, it was still a huge pain in the butt. I finally just went to a local used car dealer and worked out a much better and truly more comfortable (legal) deal than this service can offer me.
Eventually, after much frustration I just went ahead and got my own license with a couple of other guys. It was a whole lot easier than I had imagined.

okay so um new into all this wholesale license. I have doen a couple of day of studding and my question is what is the illegal way of selling cars i know the legal way around it like just simply getting some one with a retail license and pay them a small fee to do the paper work but what about if you wanna sell a car online like ebay and ship it across the country and the person cannot travel to the dealer to sign papers how do you go about that?

Bambino - If you have any questions, I can help you. I deal with all aspects of wholesale, retail, auctions and titles - ALL DAY LONG. There is a correct, legal, way to do the paperwork - car dealerships do this all day long. Email me and I can discuss the steps specifically. Good luck and success in your business.

I would recommend someone looking to et their wholesale dealer license to do research. Companies like Dealer License Group has failed to inform potential new clients of the new licensing law. They have continued to sign individuals up and take their money. When the individual realizes he new licensing law, Dealer License Group has already taken their money. When Greg Skyles (sales manager) or Adrian Kiglies (Vice President) is asked about return of the security deposit the individual is given the run around. No security deposit or money is returned.

All these guys who think they are just going to walk in and make money in a very complex and fickle business with a VERY questionable product of relatively unknown history with ZERO experience just kills me. Sure, you go right ahead, spend THOUSANDS of dollars on junk you'll be stuck with then line up with all the other assclowns that have too much money in units and try to sell them. See.... one of the problems with the industry is you guys, all you clowns show up not knowing what you're getting into and bid JUNK through the roof and NO ONE can make any money.

And YES, Silmucast is bad, why, because it destabilizes local prices and makes it more expensive for guys with families to buy stuff to drive to work....these are the same guys who think, "Hey, if I got a dealers license..."

Anyone who goes with flipping autos is a COMPLETE IDIOT !!!

Why????

Because they'll sign any mofo with enough money to pay the fee. Sooner or later one....or several of these assclowns are going to get them shut down. When that happens you'll be stuck with inventory that's not in your name that you can't transfer.

Go ahead, screw yourself and your family.

Whoever said there are no more deals left at the auction is CORRECT! I no longer buy from the auction for that very reason...and I bought there for 15 years. All these newbie assclowns showed up and drove prices through the roof. The only..and I do mean ONLY people who can make money off of used inventory from auction bought cars now are DEALERSHIPS that have FINANCE DEPARTMENTS.

Oh, and just WAIT till you get a flood unit because you don't know how to spot one or a unit with a bad motor or trans, previous MAJOR bodywork because you don't know how to spot it.

But don't take my word for it, go out and get fucked for yourself!

Got a family, GOOD! Go tie up your kids college fund in old cop cars and other junk, at least y'al will have somewhere to sleep when you loose the house.
