America has never been too fond of small cars. Big spaces and cheap gas has always encouraged larger vehicles, but a lack of genuinely talented small cars to choose from has also played a part.

Mini Coopers seem to be the rage. The Chevy Spark and Ford Fiesta are OK but they do not get the attention the Mini Coopers or even a Smart FourTwo Coupe do.

When petrol sells for $9 a gallon, you will see Yanks line up to buy Smart Cars. Or ride a bus.
