I am getting out of the navy soon and looking to earn some side money to work on business start up capital for another project. The commonwealth of virginia is a pain in my a$$. You need 250 sq feet, the 2 day course won't be held until who knows when in 2012 and it'll probably be 3000miles away during a days I can't get off of work. Am I wrong for wanting to go around the "system"? I'm just trying to make it out here.

I don't want to break any laws, I just wanna be able to get tags do drive out of these dealer only auctions. Even if I get a car cheap and sell it to a dealer cheap to avaiod breaking the law id do so. There has to be a way to sell to the public without breaking any major laws even if u sod it to the dealer and bought it back maybe.

The surety bond will be $450 for the year. That will meet the states requirement of $25,000.

Maybe if the wholesalers would STOP illegally selling to the public this wouldn't be a problem.. It's not wholsalers in general there will always be vehicles that will go to the auction whether there's a wholesaler involved or not. Where do you think the the vehicles come from that are even at the auction ???

Do you have an Indiana license ??

Dealers.....i was in sales for several years and I now came to realize how i got screwed for so many years working for a old rich jerk that has 7 stores and only paid me 20% commission and i made him millions in 5 yrs time, so ya more power to those that have indiana wholesale license and ya keep selling gotta make the quota, Im at 146 so far so ya I think im doing ok and making about 2 grand per car so i dont think im doing anything wrong just getting the same good old deal my bosses used to get for years...just now theres more people for these rich guys to go up against!!

FYI
Dear Dealer,

For 2011, Indiana Wholesale Offices Inc paid the membership fees for our dealers into the Indiana Automobile Wholesaler's Association.

The IN-AWA is a not-for-profit organization that has joined forces with many of the Indiana Office Complexes that rent office space to Wholesale Dealers.

The purpose is to create a voice of thousands as opposed to a voice of a few. This group will convey our concerns to the Secretary of State and the lawmakers in Indianapolis.

The IN-AWA lawyers and lobbyists have met with the Secretary of State and are drafting proposals which will make it easier to be an Indiana Wholesale Dealer.

Some of the items that are currently being worked on are:

Lowering the 120 Car Sales per year to 48 cars per year.

Having the Dealer Plates show up in the Nationwide Police Database.

Increasing the number of Dealer Plates from 2 to 4 for Dealerships that have more than one owner.

Suspending the practice of Dealer Audits for lost/stolen plates.

We have just scratched the surface of the issues with the dealer license. Legal fees are expensive, but if we join forces, we can create a powerful lobby base to help all of the dealers succeed.

Our lobbyists have already laid down important ground work with lawmakers to make this license prove to be financially beneficial to all members.

The annual fee for a dealer is $150.00 per year, as most of you know, that is one lane fee that an auction will charge you to buy a car. This $150.00 per year will help the fight of removing or revamping the rules that make it tough on all of the dealers.

Please consider joining the association

I am looking into the Indiana deal as my state has made it almost impossible. I build trailers have been for 20 years about 80 per years and issue COs for the trailers, but now I am limited to 5 sales a year or need dealer license. My state has no Manufacture plate and the requirements for dealer plates require large sales lot with service and inspection requirements. All I need is a business /dealer name and dealer number for the CO. So I would sell the the trailer to the Indiana dealer then to the retail customer. It seems like a lot of work to keep going as it will cost me about $5000 a year for rent and all. But I will gain 2-4 dealer plates so I will no longer need to buy plates for my rides or paying for inspections. So is it wrong or is the system wrong were I need to do this or stop working. Maybe I could find some system that would write me a monthly check
Is anyone interested in splitting the costs of a license with me if so i can be reached at stacyexpo@aol.com

Look all of this indiana wholesale license bashing is kind of funny. I have an indiana wholesale license and we are making great profit using various wholesle techniques. Once in a while i do sell to the public and when i do i do it 100% legally. thats right I do not have much of overhead and i love it. I can provide the public with inexpensive cars saving them plenty. I think the days of the old time car dealer with lot, guys running around with white shirts and ties trying to rip people off selling a car thats worth 5k for 8k making money on financing, rust proofing trade in tricks and all other dirty games is much harder now..
I can sell a car thats 12k at a dealer for 9k. and yes old school retail dealer hate me and i dont care. Im happy, buyer is happy, all good..
I agree with you.
Everyone is bashing Indiana wholesale license. These license are not going anywhere the state making revenue. Let people make living and stop bashing.

It is also people getting a dealer license from Indiana and opening curbside dealerships in Illinois.

Ther are 2 houses that are selling cars, trucks, vans, etc… here in Oak Forest. 14721 Sunset Court, Oak Forest, Illinois, United States is a rented/being forclosed house and the second one 14725 Sunset Court, Oak Forest, Illinois. The son brings his cars here to stage and also sell them. Any given night there and be over a dozen cars there and no-one says anything or calls the police because they are afraid. They are thug looking people that get high while they work on their cars. They change the dented bumpers, paint the scratches between noon until 7 p.m. They have been doing this for a few years now and the Oak Forest Police do nothing to stop them. Once it gets dark out everyone hides in their house while the polish/rican chopshop opens. The polish guy has a license to sell cars in Indiana but I doubt he pays any taxes to that state and everything is a cash sale or personal check. He does pull out paperwork to transfer the title and does this all right in front of his home so I doubt he pays taxes in Illinois either. The white guy is Mike and the Mexican or purtorican is Nick.

The police have been notified and they lay low for a while and then it starts back up. I know they are taking pay out of respectable car dealerships on 159th street and 147th street but nothing is ever done. A letter was sent to the governer, the sheriffs department and even Lisa Madigan. Exact addresses but no last names were included in these letters but still nothing has been done.

It's because Indiana gives Car Dealer licenses out too easy. Illinois people are going there and then going to auctions and buying vamaged vehicles and then selling them in illinois.

Wholesalers can legally wholesale then retail a car thru a local retail licensed dealer, providing each dealer pays his or her business tax as well as follows that states laws.

the wholesaler in that link was fined $25000 for selling to the public .. good luck .
Looks like a bad title, and the seller did not take care of biz with buyer, thus he the seller got what was expected,I have seen this happen at car dealers also, So what is the big deal,One bad deal does not prove anything, alot of dealers get revoked .If u would long and hard for so called car dealers u would find even more rip offs, But I know u are not looking.U are probly a car dealer ur self
