Autocheck is way better than carfax. I ran carfax on a car that I was looking at that obviously had paint work on it and it came up clear. Then I ran an autocheck and it showed an accident and where an auto auction had announced the car as having frame damage.

If your a dealer, and you list cars on AutoTrader as I do CARFAX is the only report that will transfer over to that listing site. That's why AutoCheck and others are cheaper. Doesn't do me any good to pull a report that does not transfer to my ads. -Jim

Yeah, but carfax doesn't pick up half of the things that Autocheck does. I bought a car at an auction in Commerce Ga once that showed some obvious paintwork but otherwise seemed okay. Carfax was clear not even showing an accident. I took it to another auction that used autocheck and they called me into the office and said that autocheck showed frame damage. Turns out the dealer who sold it to me had bought it at Manheim 2 days earlier and they HAD announced frame damage but carfax didn't pick it up, autocheck did. Carfax sucks.

None of the history reports are infallible. They are ONLY as good as the information that they are provided with. Be it, the wrong mileage reported or any other info. If there is not a police report on an accident then CARFAX nor AUTOCHECK has a crystal ball to pick it up. We all know and have seen paintwork all over a car and it has a CLEAN report. I guess those are a plus for the dealer. On the other hand, I have seen a vehicle with maybe the bumper cover repainted and no tin touched and the report says "Moderate". I would not even bother with either one if it were not the CUSTOMERS that wanted them thinking these reports are the "bible" on the history of the vehicle. So, as a result I use CARFAX so that I can give the consumer what they want. If you're not pulling CARFAX reports and you up-load to AutoTrader you are missing a key component to your listing.
