the first time i saw the completed spire, i thought it looked like the plastic antenna from my Lego sets when i was a kid --- yes, definitely something that was picked up in the toy aisle

Had the same reaction just yesterday. So diminutive as to be completely out of proportion to the building. But there was an upside. As one (of many, I think) who resent the kind of potentates who force themselves upon us through the celebrities-are-news system, I couldn't suppress my smirk.
