$1.1 million to think it over.

I am soooo not giving money this time (everytime now) when the students call for the annual fund. This is the last straw. Kill Arcata's science museum and mull over building one in Eureka? Outrageous.

These people think this money just falls off from trees?

What a waste of the taxpayer's resources.

Marine Science is the only thing besides Pot that Humboldt has going for it. A little investment is necessary at times if you want a future.

”All of the agencies were working together -- it was unprecedented,” she said.

Unprecedented in her tenure on the Board, but I have seen several tims various groups have worked together for common goals.

You are correct Marine Science is something besides pot for Humboldt County, but this still places limitations on the area. I feel the problem is looking at the cost for a feasibility study and business plan that an institution is asking for that many believe already have over-paid staff for possibly a returned report that may be shelved as others have in the past.

We need to trust the institution, yet it is difficult to see more spent on administration and salaries with additional cuts being made to services offered (Students and community). And now they wish to add another project?

Climate change is a mystical subject. Might as well lump it into this effort. Possibly (not likely)some truth about this worldwide scam might filter through to Humboldt.

If they were serious, they would just sput the $1.1 million toward building the facility. It will NEVER be self-supporting, a concept they never understood with the Natural History Museum (if you believe the budget story -- plenty of people think the administration just abhorred the idea of spending money on childhood education). Anyway, the marine science center will have to be an outreach effort, essentially a money pit, if HSU wants it.

So I guess the Fred Telonicher lab in Trinidad is chopped liver?

And the Marine Life Protection Area is being forced down our throats because this part of the ocean is so "poorly understood?"

For pete's sake, I truly hope this state goes bankrupt! It deserves to! Wait, we'll need 77.5 BILLION dollars to conduct a FREAKING FEASIBILITY STUDY FIRST! We can't AFFORD to go bankrupt! Aaaagh, I need money, money, money!

Talk about a SCAM.
Here we are doing business with a communist country....China and allot of other countries.
They are taking water from the ag. land in the south who grow fruits and vegetables so we can by them from Mexico, and other countries.
Think about all these countries stopped business with such as Walmart and others.....even Neman Marcus.......
parts for machinery, etc., wood products, food , clothing name it.....we would starve and worse.
Very little is grown or made in the United States anymore.
We used to be a self reliant country....
What in the **** is going on.
We have no industries, no jobs yet the country is full of illegal foreigners that we have to support along with the low lives who don't want to work even if there were jobs. foreigners are even allowed to buy land here.

Where is this county going besides "to the dogs"?

almost everything the United States gets comes from foreign countries now.
We are no longer have most things made in America.
There are no jobs as they have all gone to foreign countries.
We are in debt for the next 100 years and yet they keep taxing us more and more, taking from social security that we put into for years.
Our government has become sooooooooo corrupt things are going to get really ugly for us.

This one world order really sucks. Crime is the worst it has ever been, prisons are over filled so they let the criminals out on us over and over.
when we have to have alarms on our homes, watch our children like chicks with hawks overhead, have out vehicles stolen like gum drops in and open jar, where are are lawmakers, our leaders?
They are only interested in how to get into our pockets.
why didn't we raise hell when they started taxing us on tax. This is against our constitution.
They should only tax us on our income.........period .........and make their budgets on what this brings only.
no special interests, no living on our money like kings and queens and stealing what they can.

After paying a reasonable amount of taxes on our income, we shouldn't have to pay taxes for used anything, on groceries, clothing...whatever..........n othing.

Give social security money only to those that put into it, not for low lives who haven't put into it, not to go into other pet things some ass in the white house thinks of.

Enough is enough already.
It's time to bring industries back to the U.S., grow our own foods, make our own cars, parts for everything, clothing, foods etc.
Show the criminals in the white house how we them out in the next election.
