Excellent. These schmoes were knowingly falsifying their medical documents for healthcare coverage - that's fraud.

People who elect to smoke and knowingly risk their well-being should have to pay MUCH higher premiums; an extra $500 is cheap.

I agreee with pjs65 - the people like Julie, Mtgolfer and wjc3rd
are probably fat and have 5 kids each.
Julie wrote "Plus smokers are an extra burden on the health care system and should have to pay more." - so are people that are fat, have history of cancer, heart disease, etc. INSURANCE is for all people - not just ingnorant non-smokers. I am sure these people have never lied on a life insurance policy, resume/job application, etc. Get off your hig horse.
Yes, I forgot to mention that the majority of the time if the parents are fat their children are fat also. Unbelievable!! Not only do they not care about themselves, but also they overweight children, who we also have to pay for.

Actually smokers should pay less in premiums. They die so much sooner that they actually cost the health care network less over their lifetime. light 'em up!

I'm done trying to be understanding of non-smoking nazis. I have made it a point my whole life to be very considerate of others with regards to my choice to smoke, but no more.

I just can't stand the hypocrisy spouted by them any longer.

Enough of the blabbling about SHS and the rest of the make believe stuff they all swear is the gospel.

The next one of you sheeple that decides to shove their opinion down my throat like some Hari Christna at the airport is in for one heck of a surprise lecture about personal rights and the infrigment of such.

Let the good times roll!

As long as they don't lie about their weight, you're purposefully missing the point.

Your health rates are going up because the insurance companies want more money.
It's just that people like you are willing to buy into their bee ess and actually argue in contrivance of your self interest. You are what I call a wage slave.
Why should people be expected to stick up for themselves when people like you make it quite clear that you'll allow yourself to actually be manipulated into doing the corporations' bidding for them? Pathetic.
Sure the rates will go up due to greed, etc. Fat smokers give them the justification.

Wage Slave? How do you know what I make or how I'm paid? And you're not a wage slave? Anybody making money is a wage slave. You're pathetic....Go ahead and side with people who don't take care of themselves.....

But you people have no problem with smokers footing the tax bill that you all are too irresponsible to pay yourselves.
Pathetic.
To all the blowhards: YOU'RE WELCOME.
I paid for my right to be sanctimonious; where do you get yours?
I can quit smoking...but most of you people will still be irresponsible losers.
I'd hope that any snitches are maligned and ridiculed at work. Talk about a hostile workplace. Could you imagine working with such a bunch of worthless sloths whose own pathetic lives make them worry about others?
Plus, contrary to the ignorance displayed by many here, smokers in the long run actually SAVE insurance companies money. But what use do you sanctimonious blowhards have for facts? They don't make you feel better about your sorry selves.
I hope you don't quit smoking. You'll die faster that way. Go ahead and side with the liars and cheaters...wage slave!

I know of a number of places where being over weight can ding your work health insurance just like smoking can. They also have programs in the office where they help you lose weight or stop smoking so you can get better rates. The main point here is that you shouldn't lie on these forms. If you don't like the rules either go work somewhere else or get private insurance. It isn't like it is a big secret and these guys just accidentally didn't fill their forms out right.

If they can charge $500 more legally for smokers, NO I DON'T GET IT!
Sheila wrote:
This is bs. The whole idea behind GROUP health care coverage is that the premiums are spread among ALL employees in the pool, so that those who are more sickly do not have to pay a huge premium while others who do not get sick only pay a small premium. Get it?

I love the hypocrisy....I'm sure there's enough air pollution in that factory and beyond to give EVERYONE Cancer...
Sheesh....
Are you sure about that? Got news for you, they MUST comply with all EPA Laws, and regulations. The penalities are extremely harsh to both the company and its employees.

All you need to do is go to the Indiana EPA website and look up their permits. By the way, they do have Title V permits in both of their plants. They are in compliance with the Clean Air Act.

Level the playing field.
Matter a fact they do fine drunks - its called Public Intoxication when out of the car, or DUI when in one.

It's called Insurance Fraud. They can get prosecuted for it, and be thrown in jail.

Good for you. I am sure you worked with people that didn't have kids and thought it unfair that rates go up because you had to get family coverage.
