I bought an Amana 5 years ago. I have big clunking/poping noise all the time; bottom freezer freezes alright, top refrig part freezes on top shelf and very back on all shelves. I had a repairman come out and told me to read my refrig-guide book to learn how to place my food correctly on each shelf. He was trained by Amana/Whirlpool and charged $95 for doing nothing!!! Aparently its normal for Amana to do all the above...???
I HATE AMANA !!! I will never buy anything whirlpool, maytag, kitchenaid or Amana. I will make sure every person I come in contact with knows this too! I'll be on Facebook too!
Amana, you stole my money by selling a product that is no good. Eventually, if this is your standard, you'll go out of bussiness.

I have an Amana bottom freezer appliance as well, and have had the exact same problem everyone else is having. Let me just say this, you will continue to have the same problem no matter what you do, there are short-term fixes but nothing that will help this problem permanently. Amanda will continue to give you the runaround, sending you the same ridiculous form letter that you see on here repeated many times. The bottom line here is this is not the same quality that you expect from Amana, regardless of what they might try and tell you all of these appliances are defective. My suggestion to you is live with this as long as you can and in the future stay away from Amana or Whirlpool appliances, It is obvious that they are now using much cheaper parts in all of their appliances to try to return a bigger profit.

I had numerous problems with our fridge in the past in the end got lucky when i got in touch with a company who service the london and surrey area they came out and found and rectified the fault which was the icemaker which kept tripping the circuit every couple of months or so. We no finally have a fridge which works.

Purchased an Amana bottom refrigerator only 9 MONTHS ago....and have called for repairs three times in 10 DAYS! First call for ice that built up in bottom of freezer and then melted and spilled onto the floor. Was told by Amana to turn off the refrigerator for 24 hours before the repairman came. Bought several ice chests and did that. 3 days later, the ice was back. The repairman used a heating unit to defrost the ice in the freezer. Said the problem occurred again because all of the ice in the freezer didn't melt when I turned it off for the last repair. Really???...some ice remained after 24 hours of no power in the summer? 3 days later, my refrigerator section warmed to room temperature. Had to throw out food and medicine. Having an Amana may force you to buy groceries on a daily basis instead of once a week but what you save in food spoilage you lose in gas money. Of course, the repairman is busy for the next 5 days (I can CERTAINLY UNDERSTAND why) so he is coming back tomorrow. The only silver lining so far is that my refrigerator came back on yesterday so this is an intermittant problem. Makes life so much fun! It's a wonderful surprise to open the frig door and feel the coldness.

I have an Amana First Edition Bottom Freezer Refrigerator since Feb. 1997, have had 1 complaint which was promptly fixed a couple years ago. The refrigerator just died this weekend but freezer still working fine. Sounds like mine laster a whole lot longer than yours but I would replace it with the same if I could.

I too have an Amana Bottom Freezer Refrigerator purchaed in late 2004. We purchased our unit from Sears and have had nothing but problems. Here is the short list: Ice Maker 2 months after buying the unit, compressor within a year of purchas, electrical circuit board (I think that was what it was called) twice, thermostat once. And just today it went out again. Not sure which of the several issues is causing the problem this time. I had the extended warranty until just 1 month ago. In fact we had a series of calls that lead Sears to say just one more call within a month and we would get a new unit. Well, I guess I should have played the game, it didn't break down within a month, but it certainly didn't let us down within 4 months. We called Sears and guess what we had to start all over again. I have complained to Sears and have gotten nothing, not even a returned phone call. I guess we just need to dump it and buy a new one somewhere other than Sears and something other than Amana. Our current model number is: ABB2524DES. It is a 25 cu ft. model. Any suggestions or do I just write it off as a loss at this point and buy something else?

I am joining the Amana sucks fraternity. Have an ABB1922 bottom freezer unit bought in 2007. Fridge stops cooling freezer stops freezing. Have taken inside back panel off and see big frost / ice buildup on cooling coils. Manually defrosted and dried coils and put back together and fridge works again for a while. Haven't called repair man yet but from what I read here seems like a waste of time. Good luck with getting a class action lawsuit going. Me I'm going to ditch this sucker and spend my money on a Japanese / european product - just like I did with autos. Good riddance Amana/Maytag/whirlpool.

We have an Amana bottom freezer, and it keeps frosting over and heating up. So far, we've had this problem three times. Following the fix in the manual is obviously not correcting anything. So we called the 800 number in the manual, and we were told $70 just to look at it. Since we're stuck, we said fine. It is obvious this is a major problem with this product, and I want to know what accommodations Amana is making for people who brought this lemon.

It's hard to understand why Amana knows about a problem, but does nothing about it or worst wants money to fix a design flaw! How cold is that?
My bottom freezer builds up ice to the point it leaks on my designer kitchen floor. With 600,000+ asking for info about the same problem... if Ray Charles was a department head with Amana, even he could see they had a problem!
This fridge was purchased as a back up and placed in my pantry... I have a real fridge in the main kitchen.(SUB ZERO)
Here is my quick fix...
I called Amana and asked about the issue and they told me for around $300 they could fix it. But no worries as I would have another year warranty after the fix. At the same time I received this information from Amana my lawn service was cutting my grass. I went outside and asked if I paid him $100 cash on the spot, would he help me move the Amana product to my deck off the kitchen and drop it to the ground level as I made a YouTube video. Problem solved under a minute and life lesson learned... never buy Amana or any product connected to them, ever.

I have an Amana Refrigerator Model#AFI2538AEB with the freezer drawer at the bottom. It is 5 1/2 yrs old and now the freezer is filling up with ice crystals. The temperature is set at zero as instructed. I've turned this up to 6 degrees and same thing is happening. I also have trouble with my veggies freezing in the crisper drawers and my milk freezing in the side door compartment.

I am single and can't really afford a new refrigerator and would like any help I can get to help resolve these problems myself.

I too have an Amana side b side, ABB2524. Never liked the noises thing made all day and night. Now the compressor is bad. Reminds me of the 1970's when American cars were crap. Wonder why people bought Japanese? Same with Amana crap.

My Amana makes the buzzing--then click noise. Seems to be coming from behind the fan, not the compressor. We had the thermostat replaced in 07 but it did not make this noise.
