The economic boom in the '90s had nothing to do with BJ Boy Bill. Thank you for contacting me regarding President Jimmy Carter's meeting with Hamas. I value the opportunity to address your concerns and am grateful when Nevadans take the time to share their views with me.

As you are aware, former President Jimmy Carter recently met with the leader of Hamas, Khaled Meshaal, on April 18, 2008. I believe strongly that the former President should not have conducted this very public meeting with an extremist group that is responsible for countless acts of terrorism against civilians and is committed to the destruction of Israel. President Carter's actions lend legitimacy to both Meshaal and Hamas, have the effect of undermining U.S. foreign policy, and give political credibility to an international terrorist organization.

It is important to note that the U.S. State Department twice advised former President Carter against meeting Hamas leadership as it would be unhelpful to the peace process. Sadly, the day after President Carter met with Meshaal, Hamas terrorists drove car bombs disguised as Israeli Defense Forces jeeps into a Gaza Strip border crossing, wounding more than a dozen Israeli soldiers. Hamas also commemorated Carter's meeting with Meshaal by firing rockets into the Israeli city of Sderot with the goal of inflicting terror and death upon the city's more than 20,000 residents.

Thanks for the support. Let's not forget he also passed on Bin Laden when the CIA had him in their sights. Plus, when Vice President Hillary was going on about health-care reform, my small business owner husband was shelling out $1100+ a month for family health insurance. Bill Clinton didn't do anything for this middle class family...Oh wait, he did have to make me explain what "sex in the oval office" meant to my 10 year old.
