I feel for the passenger. However, there isn't anything he could have done from thousands of feet in the air. He put the other passengers and crew at risk by the continued use of his phone which could have interfered with the navigation systems.

Why didn't the guy take care of his personal business before he boarded the plane? He knew that he couldn't use his cell phone on the plane.

Once the plane starts to taxi, cellphone are supposed to be turned off. This man obviously didn't pay attention to the announcement from the flight crew. Then to be speaking on it during the flight, which is known to be against FAA regulations (announcement by the flight crew told him that) Its no one's fault but his that he ended up with charges against him. Sorry about the life or death situation. But, you knew the rules. You chose to ignore them.

Book and charge him! He endangered the lives of passengers and crew members. The doctor should have his business associate to handle his patients, if not available.

I understand a critical care call but rules are rules and he should have turned the phone off.

Yeah, it's always a life-or-death reason.
If it is, take him to the hospital or call the paramedics.
Is he claiming that only HE can help with a critical emergency?
The hospitals do not need family approval for life-and-death procedures.
There called implied situations where the hospital can help when deemed no action would cause harm or death.
"I think I left my mother's diabetic medicine in the front row of the Beyonce concert...let me check, please..."
Just another selfcentered flyer being the only person on the plane.
What amazes me, is that there was no Los Angeles connection?
They're usually the worst with their phones and sunglasses INSIDE the plane.
I heard about people talking the pilot down from the ground up, but being a doctor from the sky down?
That's a different twist for a new movie.
