Do you really think that Airlines should sell tickets for less than they cost to produce? With fuel costing more than 30% of the cost of a seat look for higher prices. With super high load factors it does not seem to be slowing anyone down on buying tickets yet. The airlines are reducing capacity and if any of the mergers go through then there will be real pricing power that controls routes.

I think the airlines can get away with slow increases for now, but what scares airline investors is the fall. I'm very cynical about the major players being able to raise fares enough to offset losses and still continue to operate with no other changes, at least for the long-term.

I hate every single one of you. I don't care if you buy a ticket or not, my airline is too stupid to care either. They just keep flying. Every ticket as far as I am concerned should cost no less than $500, and if you want anything to eat or drink it's an extra $100.

We hate you too. Get a real job and get your hands dirty for a change you greedy piece of crap. You think you are the only airline employee? You are not. We do work more hours than you do. We have as much responsibility as you do. So get off your high horse and do your job and quit your bitching.

And these are the same people parking their gas guzzling 9mpg SUVs in an airport lot for $20 a day. Bad airlines, baaaad airlines. If their trip hinges on $20, then perhaps they should stay home.

I am a strong advocate of Unions, but sometimes they go overboard. This industry is hard enough without adding things to contracts that you can’t sell this piece or not stop flying here. If this ‘piece’ is a drain on the company, then sell it. If this route is loosing money, then don’t fly it. A company has to remain nimble to survive and some of these contracts cost the company ‘a lot’! That is ‘one’ of the reasons LUV will always kick the ‘legacies’ in the nads. They do not have these contractual restrictions and if a route is not profitable, they stop flying it. Then there is the ‘political’ side. I remember after 911 that some senator from podunct GA stated that she would have denied the bail-out if she knew that her ‘home town’ would no longer be served. So, pick one! This is the most regulated/deregulated business that there is.

The public will continue to fly at higher fares. The airlines will have to reduce capacity by %30 to get the fares up. The Airline Employees are in for some adjustments.
