Will be interesting to see how much "TRUE" rest time this crew actually received after the up to an hour ride to the hotel. Many times the flight attendants and pilots only get after winding down and finding food after a long day 5 hours of actual rest.

I agree... I think severe crew fatigue will definitely factor into the cause.

It always takes the tragic death of inocents to change stupid FAA rules like "stand-up overnights" Where you might get a couple hours sleep...

The true colors of Delta Air Lines will be shown in the unfolding of this accident. While Delta is quick to claim that it is Delta initiating new service that is actually ASA, Comair, or whomever, Delta has already made it clear to the press that it wasn't one of IT'S airplanes that crashed.
The Delta corporation can go down in flames (metaphorically) in my opinion. Either they should accept the Regional Partners as their own, for good or bad, or let them have the dignity of being the independent companies of honest, hardworking men and women that they are.

Was actually trying to post this upon a Comair forum... but

Human factors really need to be considered here. For example:

Poor Runway markings

Poor Runway markings combined with obscuration of markings by rain showers

Poor Runway markings combined with obscuration of markings by rain showers, and amount and quality of crew rest.

Performance data of aircraft,

Other contributary factors such as concerns of crew being outsourced of a job by Delta's recent annoucement of flying other carriers to fly Comairs routes.

Possible distractions of 3rd crew member jumpseater in the cockpit.

All in all just a sad tragedy for all involved. Heartfelt sentiments to all the families who have lost someone from our Aviation Families and Communities.

Last week I had a layover that required 2 hours in a van. It was a 9 hour layover. Had to put the plane to bed-2 hours on the van -check-in -be at the airport 1 hour before. I got about 3 1/2 hours of lousy sleep. Crew rest is becoming a real issue.
Not to mention access to food-I think I'm going to turn into an "energy" bar!

The MSM doesn't listen.

Today, a reporter for MSNBC interviewed a man who lives near the airport and he said there have been 3 crashes at the Lexington airport in recent years.

When I heard this, my ears stood up. 3 crashes at a small, regional airport?

The reporter just brushed his remarks aside.

In any event, it's a tragedy for everyone associated with the crash.

I am in full agreement with you Brenda. Families sometimes want answers to help console and explain their loss. Time will only tell what exactly happened.

Maby he did his homework. The NTSB data base shows no accidents for Lexington KY.

Delta bought Comair and ran a great company into the ground. Delta has taken over $500 million from Comair, and now wants nothing to do with us.

You're a total douchebag if you think Delta has to take the rap for this tragedy. Comair has its own attendants, its own mechanics, its own pay scale. What is YOUR problem Moron???

Delta only wants the GLORY that they achieve by claiming all the destinations its regional affiliates serve. It fails to fess up that these cities aren't really "Delta" at all but rather independent airlines. It is only right for Delta to assume part of the blame if they steal the identity from the honest men and women who work at Comair, ASA, SkyWest and others.

(If I'm a douchebag, then based on your sophomoric response, your are the location of my activity. Have a Nice day!)

Sounds like Delta spin in regards to Comair to me? I know spin from AMR, the Eagles, and American so... don't even try it!(:

Well I am heartbroken to hear of any losses among our aviation family.

For the FAA doing the research it is farily easy to research hotels that have card keys as every swipe in and out of their hotel is recorded.

I am sure the FAA will get to the bottom of this to confirm.

I live about 2 mins. from the airport and I just want to stress what a tight community we are here in Lexington. I'm sorry, but now is not the time for bickering about airline politics. At least wait until the facts are straight about what happened. Anyways, my deepest prayers go out to everyone, Lexington was a dark place to be today.
