What happened to Disneyworld as a nnumber one family vacation spot???Wonder what the fuel burn off would be? Also what would be a suitable alternate should the flight have a mechanical problem?

The alternate would be The Green Zone, BAGHDAD. Poor crews. Since it isnt it a daily service, they will have a 4/5 day trip.

Sounds like Hot Start has never flown to Australia or New Zealand. Those are 14 hour plus flights over the Pacific with a couple of small islands that could handle a 47 or 777. QF, NZ and UA have been doing it for years and years and the only serious problem I remember was when a cargo door and a section of the First Class compartment tore off a UA 747...it was able to return to HNL.
I was on a 767 flight from SFO to HNL and we lost an engine past the mid-way point. We simply slowed down, went down to about 10,000 feet and enjoyed the extra hour it took to get to HNL...a non-event.
Compared to the non-stop JFK-BKK that TG flies on a daily basis with an A340-500,(a 17 hour plus flight) the DL 777 fuel burn will be much lower.
It would be difficult to call Kuwait a, "family vacation destination", and with the majority of the passengers flying on business or for the military, I'm sure they would rather fly non-stop from ATL that go through Europe with a long connection.
My brother is a pilot for Emirates and lives in Dubai. That city is a family tourist destination. They are building Dubailand, which will be twice the size of Disneyworld and have 80 hotels on site. Universal is also building on the property. DXB has one year round, enclosed ski resort open and is building two more. They hope to have 20 million tourist visitors by 2010. DL also fles ATL-DXB non-stop.

The longest flights I"ve ever taken were MSP-ANC five hours, and LAX-OGG, again five hours. I"m thinking these 17 plus hours will really mess up a persons system for a couple days.
