I don't see what the big deal is. I watched it and I thought it was entertaining, as much as a safety demonstration can be.

I liked the old one better. More professional. We are NOT Southwest and shouldn't try to be. The previous was more professional and polished. Especially the foreign greetings. Jindi Dondrap was my favorite! Oh, one other problem. The new one takes longer and on short taxi out, you may end up waiting for it to finish when you COULD be taking off.

I think the new video is great. I think you are misdirecting the focus on safety. Passengers could care less about learning the safety procedures. I've never seen a single passenger ever pick up a card from the back seat pocket to review safety procedures indicating to me try really could not be bothered with it because realistically there is such a small chance of anything going wrong. Flying is still safer than getting in your car on the way home from the airport. So why the creative videos? Because people are like 5 year olds when they step on board. Their attention span is about 5 seconds, so airlines get creative to catch people's interest in the hopes that some of the important stuff sticks along with the laughs.

Apparently we are tying to keep people entertained. Seems to be working as I have noticed more people paying attention when I dh.

The only way to get passengers' attention away from their electronic toys or USA Today is to offer something somewhat engaging. The old United safety video didn't "flow" and jumped around from one aspect to another.
