When the airlines merged UAL was STILL in bankruptcy, CAL was making a profit. Since the merger 100's of CAL employees have been laid off, cargo has been outsourced. UAL had crappy planes, while CAL had new aircraft. The customer service that CAL prided itself on has gone down the tubes. UAL customer service employees could give a crap if you get on, or miss your flight. Their ramp personal could care less if your bag makes the flight. The CAL employees are doing they're best to make up for UAL shortcomings, but after 3 yrs. it's getting tougher and tougher to care. CAL employees want to give the flying public their best, but UAL keeps holding us back. As for the comments about getting a life, its just a job! No, it became my career 20 yrs. ago. I was proud to work for CAL, now it's just an embarrassment. I can no longer look in a passengers eye, and pray that they don't go off on me for the terrible service that is being provided. If I could find another job I would.

For those of you that are part of the workforce integration our opinions were not asked for and the decision to merge was put in place well above our pay scales! We all make a good living and both carriers and each of our work groups will have something that will benefit each other. As hard as its going to be we have got to stand united and negotiate contracts that unite each work group and show the new "United" that we have power in numbers and we can be an industry leader.
your a f***ing clueless a**hole! we on the ramp are being decimated as we speak.in February alone over 700 rampers with upwards of 15 years of service have been slashed to part time! and are now being threatened to take substantial pay cuts or be contracted out. smizek is certainly not following the "Gordon Bethune" approach to employee relations.

I fully agree with Gordon Bethune ...one of the very most competent managers in airline history ...CAL did not need this merger. It may have been forced by the financial institutions ...
Thats not true. Thats not even guessing. Thats just stupid if you know anything about the US aviation structure . CAL/UAL are a perfect fit. Not everyone can be as cool/great/powerful/productive /profitable as the DAL/NWA merger. It is the smoothest transition in modern avaiation history. USAir/HP/AAL will have their hands tied also w/ unions that want to destroy rather than employ. I was once a proud card carrying member of the wonderful AFA FA union but in the 80's, w/ Pat @ the helm they went BK because they paid their tops 6 figures, 3k square ft of office space on K Street, travel perks worth millions. I wish, I hope that unions once again organize in the name of the front line folks and drop the friggin national leadership. Just for kicks, did you know that TWU reps AAL and IAM reps USAir/HP and the fight is not about wages, benefits..........but control. Stupid.

Capt you hit the nail on the head. Perfect. Let the nay savers move to the back of the bus. This merger is as important to the US Aviation industry as NWA/DAL & HP,USAir,AAL.

Everyone feels sold out CAL.
Many shareholders don't think the deal is good for them long term. And as described earlier, I'm concerned that customer service is going down to United levels rather than United going up. So customers are being sold out as well.
Who makes out in all this... SLIMSEK.
I understand and sympathize with the gate agents and others involved in recent fiascos. They may be facing some large layoffs and its been rough the last few years.
All big company execs at NWA CAL DELTA UNITED are crooks, face it.
U aren't real smart, are you. Tell me, a DAL FA how our MGMT is corrupt since you know so much of the dealings of other AL's. Come on, give some hard evidence against DAL Mgmt. Record profits, higher pay/benefits, better tech to advance, better on tome/baggage/customer complaints. Come on idiot. Prove your statement or admit you are an idiot.

The WORST thing Bethune EVER did was open the door for these d@mn Unions! I have never seen a large group of lazy bottom feeders as union employees! You all voted for your precious messsiah Obama now reel in God's wrath for your stupidity and communist and socialist beliefs! God Bless America down with Unions and the socialist communist unions that have set up camp in our industries!
Madam, I could not agree more!!! Allow the free market and enterprise system of capitalism to work as intended! For example on overnights I offer my services to the pilot with the biggest wallet and d*ck. EITHER way I come out ahead, so to speak! Sometimes I am lucky enough to walk bow legged the next week, and sometimes I have a wallet so fat my old tired FA a$$ looks lopsided. Then sometimes I come home with a mouth and butt full of sores, which I cannot take home to Richard Anderson. God how I LOVE that MAN!!!!!! It is ALL about risk and reward!!! Something a Union knows nothing about!!! Bush in 2016!!!!
