Ah my favorite... The ANALyst... Bored are we.. Here is a clue. In all mergers some places prosper, others will lose. your job as an ANALyst is to sit around bored, look at scenerios and write about it first. If you are correect refer to it and enhance your greatness. If you are wrong, don't worry, you speculated so long ago no one will remember.

The greater population base is on the East coast. You can't make every connection go to DFW.

I don't see CLT getting any smaller... cost to operate there is low and make sense for LCC/AMR. These Analyst talk to press just to keep there names relevant and to gain more clients...

Boy, these things are really hard to predict. A lot of us thought that after CO took over the management of UA, DEN would shrink and IAH would grow. Guess what, we were wrong! IAH is shrinking and DEN is growing although not in leaps and bounds. Like wise, I expected a big drawdown in IAD. Although the flying by number of seats has dropped significantly in IAD and risen in EWR, it hasn't been an earthshaking change. And EVERYBODY figured CLE would be gone by now but according to the bid which came out today, there is no change in flying at mainline and there has been a slight increase in express flying.
