a merger between AA & US

a three way merger between AA, AS, & B6

For investors AS & B6 would probably be better as they operate only narrow bodies, and have a much better set of hubs than Phoenix and are in growth mode.

Additionally that would alleviate two competitors and leave a weakened US Airways with only Hawaiian to merge with.

Virgin America is of no relevancy, Spirit, Frontier, & Allegiant, neither except maybe to displace some regional demand and put a lot of hurt upon WN yields.

Dump its pilot union, 70% of the company's problem.

American is so hampered by its merger history, along with its corporate history. While I think B6, AS, & AA would probably be the better economic match, assisted by a somewhat pliable workforce,

I really think an entrenched workforce and New York nearly superpower dominance is what is likely in store for AA.

The AA logo was one of the most recognized in the world. I suppose it just had to be changed.

To recover creditors money, bankruptcy judge may decide there is more value in AMR in pieces, rather than the whole tamale.
One other asset that might be auctioned or merged off in addition to the American Airlines brand is the TWA brand.

Example, midwestern fortress hubs of Chicago and Dallas, merged off with the TWA brand to another mainline airline, Miami fortress hub, merged of with US Airways to become the new American Airlines. If AA US are not allowed to merge outright, well there are other ways of realizing full value of AMR Corporations assets.

I for one would like to see the resurrection of the TWA name even if it means JetBlue gets the opportunity to become more Worldly through a northeast and midwest fortress hub asset acquisition!

Well the merger will be approved, but at what cost?

A strengthened WN
A fare spoiler B6
A substantially weaker US / AA

I think our government might just have to face,

Delta is the new TWA
United is the new Pan Am

and US / AA is the "non-Chosen Instrument!

Now on a side note, with all the give backs that will be necessary in the Northeast during an AA / US merger,

that will still just result in AA being a weaker #3 behind DL and UA, does AA have to look at a third party out west to meet the
critical mass needs to be a world player.

Hmmm! Delta is obviously betting that is the case.

Size matters is the gamble, the new American made.

Let's see if this is the gamble that pays off in the future.
