Kinda interesting how after the fight to lower the voting age to 18, and all the responsibilities that go with it still give people pause as to the maturity of a 19 year old, after all these years.
Some suggest that 21 years of age may be the correct age to qualify as a flight attendant. I suppose that means that they are not quite adult enough at 19 for this job that I hear so many critics say is just a cushy, overpaying server's job that a trained monkey can do.
It all seems very odd to me.
You are right on Capt..Funny how you can fight for this country at 18 but somehow you can be too immature for anything else. Somehow I don't see the drinking age lowered however.

CAPT, nobody who's doing it says that. Only the clueless who think things just are as they look on the surface, to their one dimensional spectator eyes. In my opinion it takes ALOT of psychological endurance.

I'm so sick of hearing how stressful and underpaid airline jobs are. The most stressful part of my airline job is having to sit around listening to all of you arrogant whiners who think you are entitled to large salaries and over half the month off because you fly for a living (Front or back). If your jobs are so God awful and you are so underpaid, why don't you prove it by going somewhere else and getting more money.(This is known as the market system and is quite American) Every job is stressful and many jobs require travel or working with a difficult public. If you can't hack it, get out. The truth is that airline jobs pay too much. That is why you have nasty old people who bitch about their job for 30 years but never leave.

If you really want to understand stress, try getting off your entitlement butt and running your own business. Then see how you feel when one of your employees rips you off or sabotages your company because they think they are entitled to more of your money! Good luck.

That's very true ENF. I also believe that 'most' 19 year olds aren't mature enough to cut through the stress of the f/a occupation. Maybe it's difficult to hire someone over 21 at that pay scale? This yahoo could have killed many people and doesn't deserve anything less. Can I sign up for jury duty in MN?

You do get what you pay for. Remember the IAM guys in Boston and JKK (pre paycut and pre AMFA) who were arrested and sent to prison for pilfering credit cards being sent air cargo. And don't forget the IAM guy in BOS who murdered his wife while a work (his buddies punched him in and swore he was there). While you are at it remember the IAM guy who murdered his IAM lady supervisor at work because he thought she was going to testify to the grand jury. Everyone in BOS knows who he is but never was arrested. You certainly do get what you pay for, but somtimes it is a supprise.
Yeah, but Duglys argument was NWA had to pay the top brass big bucks to retain "talent"..yeah , NWA sure got what they paid for for them too..I don't know about you but I don't remember taking any classes in Bankruptcy 101..I don't think a "talented person" would even look at bankrupcty as an option. My question is..for all that money Dugly and Co. are making for their "talent"..what have they done for NWA lately?? Any dumb redneck could file for bankruptcy..of course he would do anything he could to avoid it..it's a matter of pride which these "talented" execs do not have. "Talent" ....gag me.

ENTITLED? Like Dugly and Co. are entitled to may 27 million because they have to retain top "talent"?? Where? WHAT? I don't think it takes "talnet " to run a company into the ground do you?

TALNET? I guess it takes more talnet than you have to spell properly or even to use spell-check. This is just another example of why you should be happy to have your airline job. Your talnets don't allow you to do anything else.

Well , excuse me for not using spell check..TALENT..ya happy now..I don't work for the airline either, I moved on after the mechanics were forced out..the writing was on the wall..the only thing they want to pay for is "talent" talent to drive a company into bankrupcty..like it takes an MBA to do that! Hey your fries are burning! and hurry up, someone is waiting for service at the drive thru

Undergraduate Linguistics, UCLA. Masters in Finance Columbia. I guess I'm just a little too old fashioned for the digital generation!
As far as your CEO's pay is concerned, although resentment and envy are great union organizing tools, it really makes very little difference in your compensation or the company's profitability. Divided amongst all employees it would amount to a pittance. I agree there are many over-coompensated CEO's in the USA, it is up to the boards to fire them.

Who said this forum is about complaining? I agree that there is a small group that complains all the time, but please don't include all of us with that description.

Umm, we were discussing this forum, which was set up to post about NWA. The small group I mentioned has viewed it as their personal venom avenue. Most of us haven't. As far as the general public, are you suggest that the malcontents reflect the attitude of the general public. Give me a break.
