For a guy who obviously loves to spend time on his phone, why didn't he return the phone call from the reporter? Fine this guy the $25K that Southwest could have been cited.

I Hate Cell Phones

Can I call the cops next time I have to listen to an obscenity-laced diatribe or a blow-by-blow account of someone's sex life on a crowded bus? On second thought, can I grab the cell phone, step on it with steel toed shoes, and hand it back to the owner?

It's not the cell phone. It's the loser user using it!!! Grab the gabber and stomp on him or her with those steel toed shoes. I use a cell phone too but I choose not to yap yap yap away on it in crowds.

great!!! more people should be cited for their cell phone use on planes. i have flown so many times where the attendants have to keep repeating themselves to tell someone to get off the phone. everyone on the plane doesnt need to hear some a-hole's personal business.

This guy was on the news last night and he was so arrogant about the whole ordeal. Blamed everybody but himself. SO now of course he is going to sue.

I once had to tell a lady to turn it off or lose it after she was warned 3 times by the flight crew. With everything that can go wrong on an airplane why risk it. ummm wrote: great!!! more people should be cited for their cell phone use on planes. i have flown so many times where the attendants have to keep repeating themselves to tell someone to get off the phone. everyone on the plane doesnt need to hear some a-hole's personal business.

Joe David Jones is an idiot. It's a 3 hour drive from Austin to Dallas. Taking into account the flight time and the time getting to and leaving from the airport, I bet he could've arrived only half an hour later (maybe an hour). And he could have talked to whole way.

Dont Fly Southworst

What do you expect? Nothing but low lifes fly Southworst. You have a higher class of people on a Greyhound bus than you do on Southworst. Their reservation center at Midway is ridiculous too. A bunch of losers who could care less about the customer. They ought to fire them all!!!

How arrogant is this idiot to threaten to sue the airline for trying to enforce a federal law! I think $5,000 would be a nice amount! Maybe it would teach this moron that he's NOT above the law!

I am surprised other passengers did not step up and force this guy to shut it. No one wants to get involved.

sue

He got off easy, only disorderly conduct? Being as Southwest did not allow the cell phone use and the ban was clearly violated the $25K fine should fall the passenger. A**hole.

I think what Southwest Airlines did was within the safety guidelines of the FAA. Cell phones can cause interference with the communications equipment on the airplane which could ultimately lead to a disaster either in the air or on the ground. I have heard reports of both the tower and the pilots saying they have heard cell phone conversations over their headsets

At least he wasn't showing too much cleavage. That seems to be what usually drives Southwest nuts.

Submitted for your approval...a man flying at 50,000 feet who sees a gremlin out his aircraft window trying to rip off an engine...he desparately uses his cell phone to call 911 to alert the police, but is repeatedly chastised by flight attendants who say he is crazy...On landing he is taken into custody...but THE CLAW MARKS ON THE WING REMAIN.

Now, if we could get people to quit yapping on the trains and buses - who cares that you stayed out until 3 am, lost your panties, and are too hungover to work AND we have to hear it for the next 8 stops. Shut up!
