Sharon wrote: I don't blame him for being upset. I wouldn't want to be on a plane without a seat belt during turbulance. Would if it got dangerous??!! If they couldn't bend the rules and let him sit on the jump seat, then they should have made the attendent go back to that seat (uncomfortable or not) and let him go back to his originial seat. Then they both at least would have been seated safely. As far as suing, I think this world has gone way too far on that!!! People are suing for anything & everything these days... Its getting out of hand... Sharon. Ya, he CAN sue, But will he GET anything? The airlines have the best Lawyers. They work 24-7 on cases like this. Every passenger that has a problem slames his/her fist on the counter and yells,'I'm sueing this company for everything you have. Get in line. This case will come up in the year 2115 if they're lucky. The airlines have the best Lawyers. He better have a better one.

You wouldn't want to hear my nasty comments. My answer to the pilot is that he is being paid by the airlines, I take precedence over you since the airlines wouldn't run without the passengers monies. Jet Blue, and other airlines, should take care of passengers FIRST, then their employees. Where is their brains!

smells fishy wrote: there's a lot missing out of this story. Flight attendants can't sit in the jump seat .. only non-rev pilots can. The flight could not take off unless everyone was in a seat. The employee that gave Mutllu his buddy pass will loose his flight bennies too .. possibly his job. Yea .. I want to hear the entire story. There's bunch missing. Ok, just a correction to your statement. Yes, its true, they can not take off or land without everybody wearing a seatbelt, however, if you read the article the plane was in the air for an hour and a half, and he was told he could return to his seat just before landing.

Where was JetBlue when I had that bad burrito last month? I could've used their support.

The pilot was exactly right when he said that Mutlu could not sit in the jump seat because only JetBlue employees were permitted to sit there. This man, was attempting to use the flight attendant jump seat. Sorry, NO LEGITAMATE passenger would ever have been "assigned" to sit in one of those jump seat. Never. Ever. I don't think the pilot has any responsibility to give a stole-away a regular seat, especially when none were empty. I just love how people read half the article, then make up their mind what happened. The guy was not a stowe-away. He had a valid ticket which I checked with Jet-Blue myself. They are stand-by which means if the plane is sold out, they are not allowed to board, but if they are open seats, they are allowed to take them. It was an offical ticket, grants him all the rights of a paying passenger the same as if you have a friend that works for a theme park gets you in using the comp tickets. Secondly, he was not trying to sit in the jump seat. The stewardess said she was uncomfortable in /HER/ seat therefore this passenger had to give up his. I will speculate here, I would have to assume since the pilot figured he was a friend of an employee he wouldn't mind because he wanted to score with this fine young lass who's seat is assigned to her by her employer wasn't good enough for her. The pilot absolutely under no circumstances had the right to do this. The pilot should be fired, the flight atendant should be fired and the airline, having taken the liabily of not only allowing this man on the plane, and hiring both the pilot and the flight attendant, can, and should be held responsible. Just because you're using a freebie ticket given to you by an employee of the company, doesn't mean you don't have the same rights as everyone else.

As i understand it. An Aircraft is not allowed to land unless everyone is in their seat and buckled up. I think this Guy is probably telling a tall tale.

I believe that the Passenger and the Person who gave him the free ticket were in on this together to bilk the Airline out of some Cash. We'll see what comes out of this.
