Think of things in the airline industry much like Chrysler, Ford, and General Motors. Only this time, the regionals provide the low cost fuel efficiency model of foreign cars upon the backs of American airline labor.
No one wants to be the weak number three... And WN's model can only go so far agains a strong and powerful worldwide encompassing biz Oligopoly of AA one world, DL SkyTeam, and UA Star Alliance, and their foreign Express, Eagle, and Connection car models so to speak!
# 4 in this world is not a great place to be either!

It's all true. Yes, JetBlue opens a hub in PHX and then gets bought out by Southwest. The government , DOT and DOJ, then makes the "new" airline give up gates in PHX..sounds like a great busines plan...TOOL.
JetBlue doesn't have the guts to compete against Southwest.
Now when USAir and AA get together I would expect the new American to build on the west coast...PHX, LAX, LAS.
