Can't figure what it will take for LUV or another carrier the see the untapped potential in New Haven,CT Southwest flying from PWM,a small city and HVN has Yale university, the Yale cancer center, and many major corporations and universities and one of the highest per capita markets. What can PWM offer as far as business traveler's,it may be the largest city in Maine, but its still Maine.
While HVN has a 5600 foot runway, its been resurfaced and two 1000 safety overruns added and many obstructions removed. Southwest could easily do HVN-BWI runs as the stage length is less than 300 miles.
DL & SW are offering 737 flights off key west's 4800 foot runway to ATL,MCO and I hear high season flights to LGA.
With only US express flights to PHL at HVN,the airport was listed as the most under served in the country.I hope that will change.
