United was already going to make the cuts in Houston - they are just using the Southwest International as an excuse -- and since the Southwest international isn't for another 2 years it's funny how the United cuts start this fall

If what you say is true Ex-Airliner, why is it that some people have to base there decision{s} off the oppinion{s} of others? Why and when did we as a people lose the ability to say what we mean and mean what we say. Stand on our word without compromising, or using a excuse and piggybacking off what others may do/think or say about you. Is it, and this is my opinion only..... we don't want to take the hit of our reaction and try to distrubute the blame. MMMMMMMMM

...for some reason airport bow down to Southwest...however SW has no loyalty. If the city doesn't make money they will shut down their operation or cut flights leaving the airport with a big hole in their service. If UA cuts back, and things don't work out for SW, oh well, Houston loses.

I'll like to share a quote that I read today on Twitter: "You gotta get to the point where you willing to hold the "DOOR" open for anyone who wants to walk out of your life.. by Marcus Burrows " I say ..GOODBYE United Airlines..

I'm relatively confident by United Airlines leaving it want be the end of flying civlization as Houston know it. Yet, the beginnig of a new day in travel and competion. P.S. I'm no business woman but I do know if you don't make a profit. FLY FlY OUT!!

just goes to show everyone how full of shit Jeff Smiesk is! He lied before congress on the merits of this sorry ass merger. Telling congress that there would be very little disruption as far as employee layoffs are concerned! massive layoffs across the system! and where making money? go figure. United isn't the same Airline when I started over 18 yrs ago. Continental mgmt. is just plain incompetent! If this Airline ever goes into another bankruptcy and not take care of their employees, then I hope everyone will do what they can to ensure that United is liquidated!

You're right! Bring back that great United management! You know, the one that furloughed 1,400 pilots, parked 80 airplanes, refused to fix or paint the rest, took away your retirement plan and made your stock worthless, bought no new airplanes for ten years leaving you with one of the oldest most decrepit fleets in the industry. Maybe you could negotiate to get back your old contract too. You know, the one that paid you $129/hr. to fly the A320 while the CAL guys made $170 flying the 737-800. Or on MY plane, the 767 UA made $155, CAL made $197. Yes, lets get that GREAT UA management back!

Just wanted to say Thanks.

Am a frequent flyer and often international. Also a bit of a nervous flyer. Am grateful to all pilots because you do not get paid enough for the time, talent and skill needed to keep our skies safe.

Thanks for loving your job so much that you have provided good service to millions in spite of the fact that the seating for the majority of the customers is horrid, the food is just barely edible, and the air is hardly breathable.

You as pilots have to endure these conditions and more and do so daily.

So a big Thank You!

Hope you are enjoying a wonderful, retirement flying your own plane to wonderful destinations on your own schedule.

You deserve that and more.

As an ex employee, we know all too well that this is standard operating procedure. As long as you work for United, you can never plan for your family's future. Get an education, get out and prosper without them. You'll be glad you did..
