Survey: Passengers dissatisfaction with airlines' service growing

On a recent trip, I experienced one of the worst, rudest, arrogant agents with Delta in Ft. Lauderdale, on May 12, 2008 at approx. 12:30pm. This dude should only be working in a morgue. These people think they are rocket scientists!

In the 1980's less than 25% of the worlds population had ever flown. And this was all due to the cost of flying. Now Greahound people can now fly....and YOU people dont give a $h1t how you look or act towards the crew for the lower class flying. You people get on paying $69 and think they own the jet.
This is why I now fly for an Asian airline TAX FREE from you scum bags and let you all go down the tolet. I hope it goes back to the old day where it cost over $1000 to fly to NY. If you are so big and bad...buy your own plane and fly it yourself.....then you will see the real cost. |

So what percentage of the world’s population do you think has flown now? I would bet it has not changed much. Greyhound people? Lower class? You think flying should only be for the rich? You must be a liberal. Tax free? You’re either not making much or you’re cheating or you are just flat out lying. You have to declare all of your income, regardless of where it’s earned. |

Mogen, my bro, I used to have this saying, when I had to ask one of my crew to something extra, "On behalf of the United States Government, I thank you, medals to follow, honest." It worked well, anywhere, was quoted back to me a coupla times.
I now say, "On behalf of the United States Government, I thank you. And, on behalf of those who rode Greyhound last year, but ride on us this year, I THANK you." Riding on our jets is nothing more than Night Court, Seinfeld, and 'Bounty Hunter.' My capt check with the fed, we got called enroute to keep all the pax down until the police apprehended the man in 1A. Ya see how my life goes...the fed and I are great friends now, based upon 37 minutes of jokes, 67 seconds of exacting instructions to the FA's, 52 minutes of zigging thru t-storms and 1700 hours of building a training program that he would have to approve in 2 years... I tell ya what Robbin, eye contact and one of the FA's knowin what the 'Capt' means and the service he expects goes along way to makin the folks happy-and when one fa tells the rest, ya don't pay for anything with this capt-minus umbrella drinks... it's the tithe ya give, thankful for doin yer hobby...hell, I might even be able to afford fs...nah!...ECBABE...yeh, she's an easy goin type, who just kinda vents on the typewriter like me...you...YOU live the life of a husband whom fs would drool and sweat over...but not in those shops she describes...cheers! |

As bad as flying is, it beats the alternative!

just bought two tickets on Air Tran to Mn the flight wasn't bad $188 round trip but then came the add ons when we were done paying for our SEATS yes our SEATS the trip still wasn't bad at %488 but $24 for our seats. This is crazy so what will they think of next to charge us for

Judged:
1 If you have to pay for a seat, than insist on standing. How can they charge extra for a seat? There are no legal options, you must sit. |

I fly 70% of the time with my job. As bad as it gets, I look at it from the point of the gate attendant. They're not paid much, get angry customers, and they're always understaffed. It can't be an easy job. Put yourself in their shoes when a flight of 100+ people gets cancelled.
I've been bumped, cancelled and lost luggage, but you'd be surprised how EASY things can be just by being nice and understanding. Patience will go a long way also. |

Oh my Goodness - Quit your Whining!!! If you didnt buy the EL CHEAPO tickets - they wouldnt charge you for your bags, seats, etc - Ever hear of "you get what you pay for????"
The most annoying part of flying is the LOSERS we have as fellow passangers who dont have a clue as to how to behave at the airport and on the airplane - either they have never flown before or are just plain stupid. They are the ones who cause all the problems - questioning taking thier shoes off - not sitting down when they are supposed to - not turning off thier phones - not shutting up thier babies. I feel bad for the airport workers and flight crew that have to explain over and over and over why passengers have to all follow the same protocal. Thank goodness for my IPOD that helps to drown all you LOSERS out. |

Take out the middle row and charge what the flight is worth.
You get what you pay for. I would rather fly less often and enjoy the trip. |

It isn't about the price...it is about the basic customer service. If any other industry or business in the US treated its customers as poorly as the airlines do, they would be out of business. I am a frequent flier and the stories of airlines mishandling of luggage, rude behavior, time delays, and just bad customer service, could fill a book. Since 9/11 it has been 100 times worse. That terrorist incident gave the airlines carte blanche to be as rude as possible with no reprecussion and it took away the customers right to complain. Try complaining at the airport and see how fast security is called out. God FORBID you object to anything...they say you are a danger and throw your ass in jail.
The biggest insult is that everytime the airlines cry the poverty song they ask the government to bail them out. Who's money is bailing them out? the taxpayers...that's who. And who are the taxpayers? US. and What benefit do we get? NONE! I HAVE ABSOLUTELY ZERO SYMPATHY FOR THE AIRLINES. |

Last year - US Air - I had a flight from Pittsburgh to Ft. Lauderdale with a connection in Charlotte. Arrived at Charlotte and was told the flight was cancelled. I'm sure they knew that before we ever took off in Pittsburgh, but that's another story.
OK ... at Charlotte they finally booked me on a flight into Tampa later that evening. OK ... they said they would have a shuttle bus to take myself and others to Ft. Lauderdale, and gave us a voucher for it. I asked who to see at Tampa about this and was told the people at the gate will know all about this and will direct you properly. OK ... I arrived in Tampa and of course the personnel at the gate had no idea of what I was talking about. They referred me to their people down by ground transportation. OK ... At ground transportation, they looked at us like we were crazy and sent us somewhere else. After an hour of this nonsense, I finally just rented a car and drove over. Can you think of a reason I should ever fly US Air again? |
|
Yes...Price of the ticket...You get what You pay for when You fly a crappy airline like US air!!!! |
|
|
I fly Air Tran all the time and have never had to pay for a seat and I buy the special price tickets ($69 or $79). So I don't know what you are talking about.

Back in the eighties before deregulation flying was a fun experience, sure the fares were higher but so was the service, with a smile.Senator, bless his soul, Ted Kennedy once flew from Miami to Houston during the time he was promoting deregulation, don't remember where his baggage ended up,but it wasn't Houston.

Stop Flying, Won't Fly, they can take thier tickets and fuel prices and lack of service and extra fees and charges and stick them were the sun doesn't shine.
For all you idoits who continue to pay threw your nose...its basic Supply and Demand you morons!!! Stop demanding the service and watch the prices fall. Then the government can bail the airline idustry out once again and again and again... |
|
You're Right!! Supply and demand is what it is EXACTLY! So stop complaining about it and ACT on it!! Stop flying! Drive less!! People unite and you'll see change! Until then.......... |
|
|
I'm not surprised people are increasingly unhappy with airline service. People are increasingly self-entitled and spoiled, too. The awful and childish behavior of fellow passengers is what makes travel a challenge.

I use to fly TWA, until I found out it stood for Travel With Arabs.
Now I fly DELTA, which means..... Don't Even Let Them Aboard |
