Can also add, I used to travel on business regularly, and I absolutely hated the seats on

AA's MD80's More Room through Coach (Lack of thigh support on chopped of seat cushions to make it look like there was more room) NEW 737's slide forward seats are more comfortable though

AirTran had some miserable seats too on their 717's... just NOT comfortable thin no padding.

Aer Lingus (Brand new widebody, but 7 hours of trans atlantic misery)

Southwest (Very Comfortable Padded Seats)

Continental (Very Comfortable Padded Seats)

ATA (Very Padded Comfortable Seats on their newer planes, not bad at all on their older planes)

Northwest (only remember great seats on their DC9's and 757's)

And yes, these are the companies that make your typical COACH ECONOMY flight miserable on most airlines in the US.

Can add Delta, British Airways, TWA, Pan Am, Braniff, were also totally satisfactory... while American Eagle (not sure which subsidiary) Saabs were fabulous seats while the ATR 72's were thin cheap junk.
