President Obama couldn't have been more right: The post office is struggling, and for good reason.

Fed Ex & UPS are over-priced, over-hyped & do a slapdash job, I'll take the USPS over either of them any day.
I do like the idea of other services being available at the PO though.

up front I retired from post office. So now. The biggest trouble with the post office is Goverment rules. See where want to close offices but people get the elected officals to stop it. Fine to keep them open and I hope they do just remember where is the money to come from?? Now look at Health Care. Let use use the local area Cambridge closed what would it cost to keep it and all the other Hospitals like it open?? Or if build new one will be built where needed the most or where most important elected offical ??

The only thing slower than molasses in winter is postal workers. Makes the DMV seem efficient.

The post office has improved a lot. It started when the post office beagan contracts with fedex to fly their express and priority mail and continued to improve as contracts were renewed and expanded.

Priority mail can sometimes be faster than 2 day FedEx to Hawaii at a fraction of the cost. FedEx Hawaii is a joke. I had a package shipped 2nd day from Memphis, TN...it arrived in Honolulu on the 7th and will sit there until the 11th. This would never happen on the mainland. One has to wonder is it really worth it to use their services in Hawaii.
