Thank you UPS - we appreciate that you don't let this illegal activity slide by simply ignoring the packages. Keep up the good work.

Send it via US Postal Service Priority Mail. It requires a warrant (with probable cause) to open First Class / Priority Mail. USPS is always your best choice.

I don't get it. I thought all of this marijuana growing is done for medical purposes. Please don't tell me people are growing it for profit! Please don't tell me they are shipping it all over the country and making tax free money! Have we all been lie to? Oh the shame of it all, they have fooled us.

Always observe, report and turn others in if they are breaking the law. Snitching should be rewarded with praise not harrassed. Keep Mendo CLEAN 707.

No matter how it is shipped, if you get caught (and you will sooner or later) it is a FEDERAL OFFENSE to ship illegal drugs over county/state lines and for every state line it crosses adds another FEDERAL OFFENSE to the arrest warrant. So be my guest ship it to New York for all we care, your butt will be in prision for a long time. Oh, and for the record, the USPS offices here in Lake and Mendocino county are not Federally regulated, a drug dog can go and find a package there and well, you do the math.

Local Mom,

Seriously, how many senders do you think they actually catch? Most of the copping is just in intercepting the packages themselves. On occasion they will find a recipient in some other state, but that's about it.

You'd have to be a moron to put your return address on a package like that. There are ways around drug dogs as well, it is the fools who leave the day's trim residue all over the packing material that get sniffed out. A postal worker is usually the one who catches the scent anyway.

There is something that people are more likely to get caught for: large shipments of money. From police I've talked to about this very subject, that is the weak link that these bozo weed mailers don't think about.

All currency in circulation contains the residue of illegal drugs. This is due to cross contamination during handling. So, this being the case the drug warriors are able to use their dogs on the money and to keep the money based on the residual drug residue that is on the bills. It then reverses innocent until proven guilty and it becomes the responsibility of the citizen who's money has been taken by law enforcement to prove the right to posses the cash establishing guilty until proven innocent. Once you try to prove the legitimacy of the money you have invited more trouble from law enforcement. Since the law is written in their favor and the money is kept by the local municipality the police department has vested interest in making sure you do not get the cash back. I have heard of people having money taken, in other states, then having their attorney prove rightful ownership of the money only to have the department file further charges to be negotiated away by giving up a portion of the previously seized cash. Cash that was proven to be the proceeds of construction work. Fair?

You're right Thug, the sender hardly ever gets caught. But on the recepient's end it's a different story. I also think you would be surprised how much it happens too. You have to figure how many hands and/or places that package goes thru before it's delivered. It can be flagged anywhere down the line as suspicious. I also know that these locations it travels thru are frequented by law enforcement with dogs and such. Quite a few of these packages also go thru airports who have full time canine units. These dogs also hit on $$ as well who don't alert on traces (sorry Blackbeard). Go ahead and send your packages folks, it's just a matter of time.

probably so, depending on how much its probably not worth the hassle if they dont make an easy catch at the recipients door.

Daily Horoscope for December 24

Capricorn

Take things slowly and all will be well. However, you must resist a tendency to be perfectionist over things that don't really matter, otherwise you'll never finish the chores. If you're busy with Christmas preparations, you'll have to control a nagging feeling that you've got to compete with the way other people have done things in the past.
