Wednesday's Letters to the Editor

Re "Pain at the grocery" : I laughed when I read that Paul Toor "thinks the government should do something to halt wallet-pinching food prices." The government is the reason why our food prices are soaring.

Christopher T Hicks post "Ethanol Myths, re:pain at the grocery" is correct. It is the political-legal complex at all levels of Government who are responsible for soaring grocery and energy prices. We are prone to blame them for succumbing to the demands of the radical environmentalists, overlooking the fact that these extremist organizations are creations of Government itself, whose purpose is to serve as its running-dogs. Their objective usually centers on issues of increased taxation and control by government.

In keeping with the practice of the "news", though, we should put a Happy Face on this.

Just as oppressive taxation will help the little children of decent parents who smoke tobacco, and keep health care costs "low", increased food and energy prices will allow non smoking parents and auto drivers to set a better example for their children by keeping the fat off and get them out of their cars and onto their feet.

It's all the fault of liberals. They should have real jobs and work hard like the rest of us. Instead they have waaaaay too much time on their hands.

The Nobel Peace Prize for Al Gore should be taken back. He promoted Ethanol which is causing food shortages and may spark food riots all over the world. So much for Peace Prize.

This liberal put in his 37 years on the job, turning from a conservative to a liberal along the way.

There are good folks on both sides, of course.
