Yes, that's what the vast majority of us do and yet there's aspects that allow a few people who actually didn't have to work all that hard get to the top, and when they get there they tend to crap on everyone below them, working 'good old boy' deals to have their salaries increased inordinately as compared to the rest of the employees.
Well, that's rare. I know some kids who were born with a silver spoon, and they've been given a window seat. But I guess it's easier to believe that than it is to believe that you're a loser.

If by "a loser" you mean someone who has worked very hard as part of an organization only to have those on the top unfairly keep their salaries stagnant while padding executive salaries by 10,000% since the 60's?

Or do you mean someone who has been lied to by his executives, being led to believe that the company they work for is a good investment being encouraged to invest their own personal savings all the while the executives are performing a defacto 'pump-n-dump' ala Enron?

Or do you mean the person that's working hard doing his job to the best of his abilities, performing their function with excellence and passion, only to have their incompetent, short sighted executive-ship screw the up the company causing him to lose his job with little to no severance, while the executives get to leave with multi-million dollar 'golden parachutes'?

Which definition of 'loser' are you refering to?

I'm just curious...

Wah.

No one ever promised you a rose garden. The days of corporations taking care of their employees are long gone... the economy is far too volatile, and investors are even MORE skittish.

It took me a long time to digest everything that's going on in our economy, and while it seems "out there," we, as a nation, tend to think of our collective selves as entitled to a job and the security; we're not. It's just that simple.

I've been on the crappy end of the stick, beat myself up for having been shafted, and then I decided to move on. Political behavior permeates everything in our lives, and it drives the collective psychology that directs our societal thought. When one comes to understand it truly is a case of "Survival of the Fittest," that person's frame of thinking will change to the metaphorical "kill or be killed" mentality.

I'm not saying it's right or wrong... it just IS. Whining about the situation does nothing to ensure one's survival. Learn the game, and outplay everyone else.

I don't believe any here has asked for a "rose garden", and no one has voiced an opinion of being "entitled" to a job.

However, I believe we have "asked" and are "entitled" to be be treated FAIRLY and ETHICALLY.

When that's not happening WE DO HAVE A RIGHT to complain, and in this type of situation where we are not being treated fairly or ehtically, it's NOT whining.

It's the same sort of argument I hear from the rest of the elitists, but when it boils to down to that "whiney", "entitled" attitude, start taking away THEIR financial security and you'd better back up or risk going deaf from the incessant bitching...

I hold two UTC patents, they saved a division of his corporation over 10 million dollars. He sent me a check for 800 bucks. One of his bonehead managers later berated me for not following a personal undeclared and poorly conceived 'policy' of his. I told him to publicly to stick it and left.

I'm also a disabled veteran, decorated, and hold 3 degrees.

I and my friends fixed hundreds of problems for dear old George. Or did we do it for ourselves?

I'm not impressed with him, not at all. For god sakes, his customers forced him to give us money to fix most of his high warrantee cost product line, he has had no idea of the detail involved with his products, has wasted millions (400 million R&D on the PW6000 engine, all because no one listened to the engineers - and who is flying those now?) and I agree with an earlier post, David didn't do it, we did it.

Rock Star? If you mean he has rocks in his head, yes. If you mean we get the lumps from his rocks, yes. Otherwise, he's a brutal maniac, an emperor with no clothes, who just happens to know how to count. F him.

This man is no Rock Star. The truth will come out about him soon. Look at the number of contracts they have lost. They have got wise to him. A few years back UTC was on a roll. They burned some good people. Its all about numbers. I will say one thing the good people and even a great one landed on their feet. That person knows who he is. Buy GE stock!!!!!

George David is a ruthless crook and one day his high-priced lawyers won't be able to get him off any more. My husband gave his heart and soul to UTC and George David used him and then turned on him like a rabic dog. All George cares about is his own wallet. Those who think his pay scale is in line with other CEO's need to look again. There are a few CEO's who are paid exhorbitant amounts of money and he is one of them. His business choices have all been for short-term gains (money in his pocket each year) and there is no long-term growth plan. When his revenues fell short, he cut expenses by moving more and more jobs overseas (which will continue until there are no more American jobs) and when that wasn't enough, he showed a false profit by selling off UTC buildings to boost the bottom line. He didnt' care about the pollution issues when employees brought them up and he didn't care about the cancer and other employee health issues. He is a self-centered heartless crook and justice is coming soon.
