A pilot for the Missouri Air National Guard is suing Boeing Corp. over the crash of an F-15C Eagle he was flying on a training mission.

um, I'm pretty sure they make you sign something that says "this might be dangerous" when you sign up to fly those things .

Allowing military personnel to sue after an accident is a bad precedent. I think a case could be made that any money he would get from such a lawsuit would be the property of the military. After all, they own your butt, don't they?

Sure it's dangerous and they are well aware of that fact. Moreover, they accept the known and unknown dangers every time they fly. That doesn't mean that they should have no recourse when the incident is caused by negligence or outright fraud by any of the parties responsible for manufacture or maintenance.

For all intents and purposes the military is sued by it's members for many reasons. To allow a member to sue as a result of sexual discrimination, but not in the case of an avoidable manufacturing defect which results in the members loss of career or life is simply unconscionable.
