Just switching battery types may not be enough to have a safer plane. The Dreamliner's battery problems were the result of shorting in the battery sub-assemblies. The packaging of the individual Li-ION cells into the battery sub-assembly was performed by THALES! Thales is the primary supplier of all the major avionic systems on all AIRBUS aircraft!
